Ferrari 312P Coupe build 2

My first Coupe build had a sidewinder S can set up, so I want to see the difference with one of my adjust-o-wheelbase inline chassis powered by a FF050 slim can motor.

Continuing using the round 3/32" brass tube for the main rails and axle supports instead of square brass.



Parts list as usual.

- .064" brass guide tongue
- 5/32" brass guide post tube
- 1/8" brass front axle tube
- 3/32" brass round front axle supports
- 3/32" brass round tube main rails
- .064" brass front cross member
- .064" brass rear cross member
- .062" piano wire front assembly sliders

Using one of my own 3D printed inline motor pods to accept a slimline FF050 motor and Parma/Champion 3/32" x 3/16" axle oilites.

Waiting for motors from Pendle Slot so hopefully running soon.

Good start on the chassis Dan. You probably already know that 3/32" x 3/16" is a standard size slot car axle oilite, so anyone's bushings or bearings that size should fit. There are also some 1/8" x 3/16" bushings available. These should fit too.

Chassis's rolling on Slot It 15 x 8 plastic front wheels/unknown tires and Slot It F1 rims/homemade urethane copies of Fly March F1 tires.





Body will sit close to this stance.

Pendle order arrived in the mail, so got the chassis running.







Powered by a Scalextric Sport FF050 slim can, 25K and geared 3.33:1 with a Slot It 9t pinion and 30t crown gear.

Went with a tri-post body mounting, one front and one on each side pan.



Body sits low but with lots of tire wheel clearance.







Cosmetics to finish.

@ Xr4ti - guide's a Sloting Plus Universal, 7mm, my go-to one these days. They're reasonably priced and include the power wire ferrules and top screw.

@ chappyman66 - the rear wheel/tires are my favorite set-up, F1 rims with trimmed and trued urethane copies of the Fly March rears. Love the bulbous sidewall profile and width.

Tamiya pink primer's on, ready for final coats of Tamiya Italian Red.







Wheel inserts are my own resin casts. The masters for 15mm and 17mm rims were done by Greater Vancouver Slot Car Club's resident 3D design and printing whiz, 3D Ron.

Final coats of Tamiya TS-8 Italian Red applied along with detail accents in flat black, silver, yellow and clear red and orange. All covered with Tamiya semi-gloss clear. Vac form window glued in too.













Worked out modelling and performance-wise.

Easily faster and more driveable than my other Ferrari 312P Coupe with the sidewinder set up.



Fastest of all three of my 312P builds.

The latter two are equipped with my favorite rear wheel/tire set up, F1 rims with trimmed and trued urethane copies of the Fly March F1 rears, so this looks to be a factor.

The inline with the SW tires comparison would be interesting.

Yup...not surprised that the wider tires make a faster car, along with the lighter weight.
