It's days like today that makes me think that any past proxy success I have had was pure luck!

I am not making any headway with my GT3 build, in fact I think I am going backwards, still at least 4/10 off my Group 5 car pace.

In speaking with CGYRacer we agree that the higher CG of the BMW 320 helped with traction and that these lower wider cars are struggling to get the same grip. Today my Sideways Lambo with a 23k MB Slot motor was the fastest, but still 4/10 slower than were it needs to be.

BTW, Kevan I like the Bentley a lot, it is right up there with the Lambo, to my earlier comment, I think the higher CG works in its favour, but the problem is the narrow track. I had to modify a Slot.It pod (changed the bearings as per chrisguyw) to squeeze a set of 10mm tyres on 9.75 rims under the body, but still it is very tippy.

Happy building...at least you have time on your side, I am heading to SA in 2.5 weeks!!

If it helps Chris, my best home track times (scalextric) have not been on par w my 2018 G5 car during initial testing. You WILL get there it's just different and I'm glad I started early as I'm on car number 4. I will have 2 or 3 cars for sale soon after November 18th.

Um sounds like I better get to testing. The Sideways Huracan is about 3 secs off the pace of my Thunderslot Lola. Now how big of a motor do I drop in it???? 21K 25-26K 28-30K :think:

So far it appears most are in the same boat with their GT3 cars turning times 2 to 4 tenths slower than the times of their G5 cars. Of course there are a few exceptions, as my 2019 car was pretty slow in comparison to my 2018 G5 car and my best GT3 car is off 2/10ths. We have exactly 70 days to go with testing of these new and very different cars from our past racers. It will be cool to see the changing of chassis, set ups and engenuity for these cars to perform.

On a side note G5 cars were faster at Wayne's World than the Can Am cars.

Right now my NSR Merc as at the top of my testing. It is running right at the same times as my Can am car on our local track. However it is pretty tight, which I think favored the Can am car much more.

I still have scored the highest total laps in the 9 min with this car than any other on our track, and many people find it is easy to push. So hopefully it can just make it in the show.
