Here is what I would like to know, as I am getting ready to head to my work bench:

1) what did Zack do to his Merc to make it work? Mine's a dog at the moment - in fact a Dachshund - the front and back is connected, but the tail is wagging and the head has no clue what's going on!

2) Brumos is killing it in the CanAm, people like me want to know the secret sauce?

3) Scott has hugely improved his car based again on CanAM, perhaps using the new Saskatchewan seal skin oil on his tyres....please tell!

4) Rob (aka Mr. Consistent Top Dog) is again at the pointy end of the field in the CanAm....spill the beans buddy, spill the beans!

Hello Folks,......for anyone running an NSR chassis, I would highly (really really highly) recommend the use of a Sloting Plus axle tube/bushings.

These were initially developed more than a dozen years ago (when Ninco tended to rule the Euro club scene) and were a major aid in reducing/eliminating "Ninco Hop". They work equally well in NSR and Scaley AW/SW chassis.

It is a single tube (flanged like typical bushings) and has 2 quality sintered bronze bushings installed . It comes in 3 widths (31mm for NSR sidewinder pods) and will clip right in (it should obviously be glued as well).

This single piece tube...1/ already has the bushings perfectly aligned,..2/...beefs up the rear end, reducing flex and therefore chatter...and,....3/ most importantly,....eliminates the individual movement/flex of the individual rear axle uprights, which when they flex (as they do in the stock motor pod), cause bushing misalignment (resulting in axle binding), chatter, and ,mesh issues.

I have been using these in NSR/Ninco/Scaley cars for many years, and they are worth their weight in gold......I am quite frankly stunned that more folks do not use them, but then again, I guess not everyone has seen them, or they run in clubs that do not allow such modifications.

As mentioned, they come in three widths, and the one for the NSR sidewinder pod is Part# SLPL 1010 ((31mm)

A pic. of the SlotingPlus axle tube installed in a NSR Mosler........I built this recently for a Euro club racer.

You will notice that the tube must be "notched" to clear the motor can in an NSR sidewinder pod......generally plenty of clearance in an AW.........It is definitely worth the effort !!!!

I’m ready to send my car a Scaleauto viper.....
I’m running the new 32k nsr motor as I’ve also been told underpowered...
I benchmarked it against my gp5 bmw and it’s quicker and as easy to consistently
drive ...So time will tell....good luck to all, especially those with NSR’s

Yesterday was a busy slot car day for me. It has been pouring rain, and it being one week before I leave for SA I took the opportunity to start narrowing down my options and at least get to a point where I felt I had a car that came closer to meeting my expectations. Here is a brief summary.

1) NSR Mercedes, not sure why, but this car is not living up to my expectations, it has become my plan B (when I have more time)

2) Not sure I found any significant difference between the Scaleauto car options I tried, but I will more than likely pick one of these to be my plan A. The Corvette seems quick, the Viper, Porsche and Lambo all seem to work, but the times are still slower than my Group 5 car at the moment.

3) The A71 Bentley is a joy to drive, smooth and quick but the ultimate speed is not there. I think the higher CG is an advantage, but the car is relatively narrow at about 61?mm and the widest tyres I can fit are 10mm. I am running a very smooth 25k SRP motor. Great car, I will for sure finish this car at some point.

4) The BA Ferrari with the Olifer has been put aside, nothing wrong with the car, I just had to narrow down my options.

5) I still have a A71 Ferrari, it might be a plan C, but the body needs more work (priming and sanding) before paint, and I do not have time for that now.

So what did I learn.....tyres, tyres and tyres are super important!! I tried several tyres (brands and compounds) - Ultra's, Super's, ScaleAuto some wide, some narrow, some tall some not so much, and the result...when I put the tyres from my Group 5 car onto any of the above models, the lap times improve! So now, I am saying goodbye and you are on your own, I am off to true some tyres and work on getting at least one car to work, even if it is at 80%, I will feel much better.
