Cool old pictures

The roof was very low. I saw this car many, many years ago at Concourso Italiano. The front
does not look as good in person as in the photos. I think the "pontoon" fender idea doesn't
work in this case.

Oh yea! Thing is, the car was designed by Frank Costin, but built by Zagato. I would like to see the original Costin
drawings to see if Zagato changed the nose any during construction. It just doesn't look like his work. Gorgeous
car just the same. Incidently, I have driven a normal 450S. The engine is the same four cam V-8, and it makes
fabulous sounds. Did not like the non-sycro gearbox much.

The 3000 hp Valiant wagon was a guy named E. J. Potter. He used to race a bike with a small
block Chevy in it. They called him the " Michigan Madman ". The Valiant had a turbocharged Allison
airplane engine in it. The car was not fast, due to the enormous weight of the engine. His answer
was to put an electric traction motor from a diesel train locomotive in the car, and use the Allison
engine to power a generator at the start line. He connected a 1320 foot long extension cord to the
car and tried running it that way. I missed the actual run, but I heard it was a flop.

I loved the Trans-Am series in it's formative years. Not as much as Can-Am, but a close second.

T/A is like a gateway drug for me... I simply cannot get enough. And Can-Am is a close second for me ;)

When I was a kid a local Standard station had a tow truck built on a Ford Model TT. What I liked
about it was that the guy had put a Lincoln flat head V-12 in it. I don't know when it was built, but
he used until the end of the 1950's.
