Australian V8 Supercars!

Postby Tubby » Thu May 23, 2013 9:45 pm

I just watched my first V8 supercar race on Speed channel. Compared to these guys NASCAR is boring. Race cars that look like the real thing. Plus I saw windshield wipers so they must run in the rain as well. First time I have really enjoyed watching racing in a while.

Well. It will be interesting to see what happens with the V8SC over the next few years. There were rumours that Chrysler were looking at signing on for a future position, but over the last few days have officially signed on for support and safety vehicles only for the next few years.

And now, over the last 24 hours Ford have announced that they will withdraw production from Australia by 2016. So, I hereby declare myself no longer a blue oval girl. But I refuse to turn red.

Austrailian V-8 Supercars are simply awesome to watch.

Highly competitive & very tight racing. Exciting right down to the finish line.

I have been watching DTM. British Touring Cars along with Austrailian V-8 Supercars.

I became a V8 Supercars fan a few years ago. It's great racing and the best part is they go left and right, to me that's real racing and driving. :)

Apart from the good TV presentation it is the commentary that does it for me with V8SC. They actuallt have guys (oK maybe only one!) who actually knows what he is talking about. Then there is all the techie stuff inside the garages.

Bonus the slot cars perform quite well also.

I was hooked on Aussie racing years ago when I saw some old film of many years at Bathurst. From there on, if its racing in OZ, I've checked it out.

Of course there are shades of "you threw money at Holden, we want our cut." But you'll notice Holden are also threatening a similar retreat even though they got prop up payments recently.

I'm from a Blue blood family (although His Lordship is firmly Red). Of the 5 cars between us (3 business cars) 3 are Ford and 1 is a Ford designed Kia 4x4. Mind you the 5th, Mitsi Lancer, is by far the most reliable.

Anyway.... We wait patiently to see what is really afoot.
