Good start on the frame work. Are you using spruce or bass? What plans for cladding? If you're using it for photos remember you will see inside as well as outside.

If your framework is to be exposed at all you may wish to paint or stain it while it is still bare.

The old garage/shed I built I was concerned that glue would affect the wood's ability to take stain, so I stained all the frame pieces before I glued them together. But for new buildings or if your framework is to be covered that's unnecessary.

You've started well. Looking forward to watching it take shape.

I'm with David......I'll now have to hold my head down in shame my next trip to Dixon after seeing pics of this.

The frames are made of Balsa. I have two kinds of balsa The hobby shop kind and the good stuff. I'm using the hobby shop stuff. Reason being I also do free flight airplanes from time to time. I started staining the walls and yes some of the stain didn't take but its OK as there will be so much stuff piled against the walls you won't notice it.
As far as siding goes, it will be clap board. Aged on inside, new paint on outside. I'm basically am going fo a '30s to 40's gas station that was bought in the 60's and had a larger shop added to the rear.
On a same but different note, I started this project today. Wanting to put a gas station on the side of it. As I sit here and type I smell like gas. WHY YOU ASK. Apparently my wife doesn't know what a GAS GUAGE IS!!!!!!!!!!! Had to go rescue her. I guess it's POETIC JUSTICE

I'm all for the distressed look. My shed may have gone a little further than was originally planned.

Play of old and new is always fun. If I get around to doing another building sometime I might go for the fun of mid repair and repaint.

Shiny new buildings have no character to me.

Paint or stain and use some sand paper to lightly go over it. It really brings out some cool features and looks like aging and wear. I did that on the trim and stairs of my bridge:

Sorry guys. I thought I'd posted it here. I feel like I've posted it almost everywhere.

I'll post it when I get home. Planning on re-doing it's yard sometime, because the surroundings never quite got the attention they deserved.
