Its 640pm here. I have been pretty quiet on this first Father's Day without a father (and mine was no prince). Not sad, just laying low, being quiet and entertaining myself happily with the latest car. Then around 4pm, I was interrupted at my slot car bench by my youngest (29), who called to ask me to come over the the house next door where he and my mother now live. To sum up, he and my mother and my wife had secretly cooked up something amazing. Scratch-cooked cherry crumble, home made vanilla ice cream, and cards and presents from both my sons (that includes the eldest [34], all the way from Georgia), and they made a big fuss over me for hours. Then I came home and found a wonderful email from my semi-adopted daughter. Happy Father's Day. My first, really, in so many ways. ...pretty good.
