A Great Father's Day to all.

Today will be a good one here at the Skunkworks.

Grand-babies are enroute and ribs will go on the smoker in an hour.

New Scalextric Camaro project begins. Can I make a car so Lee does not have to sandbag so much when we race? Time will tell. We know I will not get the paint as good as he does.

As Mr. Eastwood once said: " A man has got to know his limitations" :)

Hope all you Dad's have a great one.

Its 640pm here. I have been pretty quiet on this first Father's Day without a father (and mine was no prince). Not sad, just laying low, being quiet and entertaining myself happily with the latest car. Then around 4pm, I was interrupted at my slot car bench by my youngest (29), who called to ask me to come over the the house next door where he and my mother now live. To sum up, he and my mother and my wife had secretly cooked up something amazing. Scratch-cooked cherry crumble, home made vanilla ice cream, and cards and presents from both my sons (that includes the eldest [34], all the way from Georgia), and they made a big fuss over me for hours. Then I came home and found a wonderful email from my semi-adopted daughter. Happy Father's Day. My first, really, in so many ways. ...pretty good.

I was able to visit my son, daughter and son-in-law in Nashville. They took me to the Frist Center to the Sensuous Steel exhibit. It consisted of about 20 Art Deco cars from the 1930's. It was a really great weekend.

Pictures to follow in a separate thread.

My wife had to work so me and the kids who were home went to breakfast and then out to the Portland Rose Cup Races where we met my brother and his son. After the races it was home to a wonderful meal prepared by the Mrs.
