Well, Had delivery of the NEW and APPROVED BEACH OVAL today.
6 Lane DOG LEG Tri-Oval Built by Gary Gerding.

We used to race on a 56 foot per lap oval just like that. Ogilsvie calls his "Phoenix" and has the same exact shape.

The racing was tight, no one could run the slightly banked turn flat out and the tight turn coming after the short chute was where you had to set your car up so you could get the power down quicker than any other car, if you wanted to pass on the long (?) straight.

Many nights the racing was so close, the winner was finally determined during the last lap of the last heat!

I think you will have a blast with this track.

It is a basic 10'x20', but the wrench I had instituted, is the DOG LEG.

It is really FAST and hooking up real nice. GONNA BE some GOOD RACING!

I think it will be raced very hard.

FLORIDA, I haven't measured the lane distances yet.
The BIG CORNER is 25 Degrees and tappers into 15 Degrees in the DOG LEG down to 10 Degrees in the HAIR PIN.
When coming out of Hair Pin, if you set your car up right coming out of corner, you ROCKET down the Chute.
If you can keep your momentum through the Dog leg into the Hair Pin, this is where the racing action is going to be as you can pass in all areas there if you don't upset your car.

Mees thinks that coming out of the Hair Pin into the chute will determine VICTORY to the Better Driver like you say Florida as the Lap Counter is right before entering BIG BANK.

The track is and will be a blast.

WOW!!! That tri-oval looks great!!! :drool: With that dog-leg and the basic shape of the track slow or fast any type of racing would be teriffic!

Very nice, Andy - CONGRATS on your new and improved tri-oval !! I can almost guarantee you're gonna have a blast on this track. Looks like a nice, smooth design. Mr. Gerding does nothing but first class, professional work. You're fortunate to have enough space for this slick 6 laner! Looking at the photos, it seems like a 'brother' to the big 8 lane Pocono tri-oval that Hasse Nilsson built for our second Islip Miniature Speedway (at Holbrook) store back in the late 1980's.
Absolutely, getting through turn two quickly and the entrance/exit of turn three is the key to quick lap times on this type of circuit. That's what made it so much more fun at the Holbrook store than the simple 6 lane "squeeze" oval we had in the East Islip store. Still wish I had the old "HOLBROOK USA" tri-oval today (it did take up quite a bit of floor space,though).
Hopefully, I can get out there some time in the fall (or maybe sooner, to help you "lay down some rubber" on the lanes).
The new track really looks great. I wish you good luck with your investment to the hobby.

Mr Gerding does build a nice track.

Very nice track. With the dogleg it should prove to interesting, as that's where all the action will be. The one I ran in years ago had the dogleg after the bank. I never seen a car take it full bore with out coming off. Looks like yours will be lots of fun. :)

Foot, a few of us just ran some laps to get some rubber laid down on it.
FAST! And the DOG LEG is the TICKET. If you can work the LEG, your gonna gain some track.

Track is tacking in a nice groove. BUSTED in the 1.4's with the SUPER MODS.
1.5's with the REALITY MODS
1.6's with LATE MODELS
1.7's with PRO TRUCKS
1.5 HARD BODY MODS.
