Just a awesome effort, beautiful, definately looks like a very well built and thought out design. I should have been so lucky at 12 to have a 4 lane giant HO track. I settled fot the 2 laner that was housed under my twinn bed, but was fun all the same. That 2 laner is what burned the hobby into my brain early on. It`s all about the memory for the child that will probably bring him back to the hobby long after he lives life. I see these great HO tracks and still remember how much fun they were back then, and have made a couple attempts to recreate the days. But after 1/32 It just doesn`t fill my needS any more. I do still enjoy the little boogers though.
Here are some more images. I opted out of using newspaper for the hills and went for the green Styrofoam used in plant arrangements. I then covered with a mix of Elmer's Glue-All, Wood Glue, sand, and grey acrylic paint. Once dried it turns hard has rock and can handle a ton of punishment any 12 year old can dish out. I am now looking to build a larger layout with much steeper hills, crossovers and specialty tracks. I would love to find turnoffs but I do not see that as an option. I may just add another 4x8 and continue this track. I am not sure. It is a hit with a few of his friends, but folks in the south most people prefer to hunt and fish. I wish I could find a slotcar club in this area. Enjoy the photos.
