Who are your top 5 Drivers of all time?

Wow lots of great drivers there. As Im reading some of your top 5s I could easily change my list. Theres a few drivers there I didnt even think about.

Number 1 is easy, Mark Donahue. Everything he drove he won in, he died way to young.

Number 2: "Roarin" Oren Prosser. I watched him as a kid drive at Saugus, Ascot, Orange Show Speedway, Mesa Marin, Manzanita and Winston West in stock cars. He was one of the winningest drivers ever. Then my real reason for naming him here is that I watched him last year win a sprint car race at Ventura Speedway against the likes of Sammy Swindell and Cory Krusemen. Prosser was 77 years old at the time :clap: . I'll be watching him again this weekend, I can't believe he is still going strong at 78.

Number 3: Tie; Tommy Kendall, Boris Said both great drivers both came out of the trans am series.

Number 4: Dan Gurney- no explanation needed.

Number 5: Parnelli Jones - again, no explanation needed.

Ooooh boy. Not possible to get down to 5. Too many disciplines to consider... But if I take it as favourite and not greatest some on my shortlist would be:

Sir Jack - Not only a great driver and fierce competitor, but a brilliant engineer/designer. We'll not see his like again. Australia does not make enough of a fuss of such a legend.

Peter "Possum" Bourne - Brilliant driver and all round nice guy who competed mostly as a privateer. Possum was one of those who realise the public are as important as the sponsors. We should've seen more of him on the international stage.

Michele Mouton - Someone with the balls to take it to the boys.

Kay Petre - 4 foot 10 Canadian born Kay wrestled a 10.5 litre V12 Delage around the Brooklands track to a staggering 134.75 mph in 1935. Enough said?

The Stig. No no.... not THAT Stig. Stig Blomqvist. Pure genius behind the wheel of a rally car.

There are so many more that would also be on the list for consideration, but I'll finish with a no body who is representative of so many others out there although no one will have heard of him.

Peter "Bully" Bull - Small time local racer. Runs in Limited Clubman class. Single father of two kids. He races his car on the smell of an oily rag and for the pure joy of it. His Clubman might be 5 years behind the development standard of the shiny new ones on the track, but it doesn't matter. Every week he is out there racing, or he is supporting his son or daughter in their class. Or if none of their classes are running that night then he's track marshall or controller. He knows well he'll never be one of the greats, but that doesn't matter. It is he and his like that keep motor racing alive. They are my favourite drivers.

You know what is most fun about these sorts of things - finding out about the names on the list I don't know - what they drove, when they drove it, etc etc aside from learning something new the really fun part about it is in invariably leads to a new slot car. :)

It is hard there are so many great drivers from the past who deserve to be on the list

1. Sir Jack Brabham only person ever to not only build his own F1 car but also win the World Championship with it & Denny Hulme won it the following year best F1 driver ever in my opion
2. Bruce McLaren came , saw & conquered Can Am for many years also with Denny Hulme , his name still livs on in F1 cars
3. Denny Hulme just for what is mentioned above very talented driver & very under rated
4. Allan Moffat my all time hero when growing up & first watching racing on TV his 69 Boss Trans Am Mustang is legendary in Australia but he also done Trans Am racing in the US with Lotus Cortinas & then Cougars with Dan Gurney + various other forms of racing not only in Australia but around the world
5.- Dan Gurney one of the all time great drivers like people have said could drive anything also very underated
