Anyone ever try this?

Hey, been ages since I been on here, but still plugging away getting my plastic track up and running (laid off for 4 months sucked).

Anyway, I tried an idea, as I'm using Carrera track, but hate the high banks (slight banks I don't mind). Anyway,I took a 1/30 high bank corner, and sawed off the part where you put the stand in it. Ta-da, ended up with a real slight bank on it that looks pretty darn good once I get everything in place. Anything to save a buck is how I'm rolling on this project. Just wondering if anyone has ever done this?

I saw that years ago and the guy who did it liked it. Seemed to work.

I have one corner done so far with it, it looks pretty nice as it only rises 3/4 of an inch or so. Once I nail down the inside and foam underneath it, it should work really well. I have two more corners on my layout that would use the 1/30, I'm gonna see how it'll work in those two and if it looks good, I'll use them as well. Table is 6x16, pretty much centered in the middle of the room around a pole in the one basement room (table has been done literally since February). Now just trying to drum up the remaining $150 or so I'll need of track to finish. Debating whether to use a crossover or squeeze track section, pretty much its gonna be me racing by myself until I go big boy style and get a power upgrade. Then I can race against my 2 year old as he loves watching them, but just mashes it to the floor, a little amp control will stop that, hehe.

yes I`ve done this exact deal..a couple times, sadly this is the only picture I have left. This was my 2nd track configuration I think,330 outer 230 inner. I accually left out 1 330 and 1 230 bank piece then put in a 1/3 straight then a 330 flat 230 flat to help with the transition to flat, this also changed the turn radius, which let me lay the bank down low enough for the track to match up in the end. This was done leading into the bank off the long straight.

I should add I also did away with the plastic bank supports, I used 1 x 6 lumber and cut angled supports that sat under eack track joint. And screwed to the track piece.
