Heading to the big city tonight

Going to head North to Jefferson City tonight. It is only about 1 hour up the road :)

Hobby Lobby coupons in hand. The store there is usually light on model kits...but once in awhile you score a goodie.

Plus the Westlake Ace Hardware is there. One of the finest K&S suppliers in my area.

But this trip is for The General of course. :whistle:

They have a nice KFC there and they just remodeled the Burger King...so we have that going for us.

Nothing but the finest for my wife.

Wait... I'm still trying to get the picture of Jeff City as "the big city". Makes my eyeballs roll back in my head. I remember a capital building backed up to the river and a little old town around it. Or maybe things have changed in 35 years or so. The last time I was in Medina where Jeremy lives, it was a couple of farmer's market stands and a couple of gas stations and very little else. These days it looks like everybody in Jackson moved there. My part of Memphis was considered "Memphis" when I was there. Now there are very few people who have ever been there, but think they live in Memphis (30 miles east or so). They have no idea where Memphis is, or was.

Yep, you have been there! But they have the big stores like Hobby Lobby AND we even have a Menards.

I made a huge loop for two weeks many years ago, going to see the state capitals of every state around Tennessee, plus a few that were nearby. Tennessee has more border neighbors than any other state in the union. That was the start of the idea. The southern tier was easy, but Florida and Louisiana took a day each just to get there. Of all of them, West Virginia was the most unique. The brand new (at the time), interstate highway wrapped around the mountain range behind the capital building so you actually viewed it from around the fourth floor, looking across at its' golden dome. Pretty spectacular.
