I've had a few emails of folks that have seen the news asking how close the flooding is to us. Luckily, while we have had several inches of rain in about 36 hours, Monument is fine. Colorado Springs and the Ute Pass area have had some serious issues due to the Waldo Canyon burn scar, but Denver and the surrounding areas...well, it ain't pretty.
I commute to Golden, just west of Denver. My office is a stone's throw from I-70 where it heads into the mountains. Absolutely crazy. I have driven through over a foot and a half of water on my work's property the last two days from overflowing culverts. Estes Park is apparently a disaster and parts of Boulder and Lyons really bad too. When they close overpasses due to flooding it is always a crazy thing.
Where was this in June when we were burning down?
Hope everyone else out there in the area is safe!
