I had a black with flames '57 chevy gas powered .049 car back in the day and a green WWII airplane on a control line also with an .049 engine.

Those were the days!

Went from those to building balsa kits. I still fly control line every now and then with the larger .35 and .36 sized engines. My daughter and wife can fly basic control line too. (Actually, the daughter had progressed to loops, figure eights, etc.)

I had the P40 and the Stuka...both eventually got crashed one too many times. I remember the Stuka had that extra string to release the plastic bomb (what were you supposed to hit with that?) I recall a couple of friends had the Wenmac(?) "Prop Rod" tether cars....can you see them selling those today?

Back in the day, we use to attach model rocket engines to weighted down model cars and shoot them down the street too!

What fun that was especially when one decided to go airborne do a 180 in mid air and come shooting back at you!!!!

Model rockets and experimentation there of was big with my friends and I years ago.

Kids don't know the fun they are missing out on nowadays that we got to enjoy back then......

I think I have my little nephew hooked on slots though.....

I think he had me pull every car down off my shelves and run it at least one time while he was over. We ran cars for well over two hours that day. He is into cars..... He has quite the collection of hot wheels and will be receiving from me a Ho slot car set on a table for Christmas this year....

He is a good kid!

That is neat! You guys should have fun with that! I remember a friend and I putting a Estes rocket engine on a Hess truck, it didn't end well.

My dad had a Cox P-40 airplane on a tether. Very cool toy. It went up and augered right in...loved that thing though.

Bummer on the gear...can you get another?
