I have seen this car in person. It is far nicer now than it was when it was raced. But $149,000?
I was born and raised in Elmhurst, a few years behind Fred. I didn't know him personally but
I frequented their family Shell station.

Yeah, my wife is from Elmhurst (went to York, that huge high school), and her folks went there, too. I just about flipped when they mentioned it to me in 1970. I wanted to go there, but apparently any trace of its history was long gone. Or they didn't want to take me there. They didn't like racing or me.
