My hope is fading for getting a Pioneer Camaro, but I'm glad to see someone has them. My slot car budget this month went for house taxes and insurance. :)

Late last night I was going the true the wheels on the Scalextric camaro. When twisting the wheels off the knurls on the axle pulled some plastic out of the wheel. The holes in the wheels are all so larger so they would not fit on my tire turner. So I just sanded the molding gates of by hand and hope for the best.

I sanded the rear tires with track power and sand paper.

Here is the 200 laps with 3 offs. Car handles better without so much swing out in the turns

I think that if these cars had the same rear tires it would be some very close racing. Will I order super tires for both cars ?

For the most part I sand the tires on my scaley cars with everything attached to the car. I have glued a strip of sandpaper to a section of track and connect power to the rails. I sand at about 8 volts which is plenty to do the job on PG tires or yellow dogs. Super tires being silicones don't need sanding and if they did it would take forever. Just don't sand for more than 30-45 seconds at a time to prevent motor overheating. Or you can buy Razor Johns Tire Razor if you have $150 to spend. It works with the wheels attached to the original axle.

Good write up. I like what I am seeing. I'll take having to super glue the wheel on the axle over splines any day. I'll be having one of these though I don't know exactly when. There's too many neat new toys coming out this month and my toy allowance only affords me so much per month to play with. I should have a preordered Slot.it McLaren M8d coming next week.
