What controller for company

I have had the same palmer economy controllers for over 10 years, 2, 45 ohm, and 2, 25 ohm that I use when company come over. I rewired them right away and they have been repaired a number of times, two are no longer repairable and a third is giveing me trouble. I have a defalco and a PM that I use for club racing, and personal use. I would like to get new ones but am not sure what. I don't have alot to spend, (about $50.00 each)but I do want good response. I run stock motor on a wood road course with variable power, SCC wiring and drver stations with XLR connectors. What would you recommend.

Well for Economy I still like the PARMA Econo controllers. About 25 bucks new and they work. Still use these on our oval.

Going to go against the flow. I like the PM baseline models. The non-adjustable ones. They are simple to use, and don't have the risk of burn-out from the novice tendency to set and forget power level.

I actually got rid of my PM controllers. Most folks didn't like the way they fit their hand - myself included.

I have completely gone back to my Parma 45Ohms. Everyone liked them on DC and now the AC power. Dirt cheap too. I just finally replaced a 10 year old one for $16.99

Parma controllers no longer repairable? Why not? If the resistor is shot you can always install a new one. Often the wire wears through at the full speed end, you can salvage the resistor if you unwind a half turn and solder the end to the back of the full speed band. If the wiper button is worn out it can be replaced. Parma does make controllers that have an aluminum frame and those are more robust than the Economy model, they have a somewhat better feel as well.

Yeah, Parma controllers are like luggage -- you can't get rid of 'em. They will go on forever, simple construction and easy to repair. At least until you get tired of fiddling with them, anyway.

Majority of our guys own their own units now, but I have always kept 2 -45s` and 2 -35 ohm PARMAS on my table for anyone who needs something.

I like the 35.

I like the 35 for the larger scale, but have always prefered the 45 for lower powered cars. Just like the added feel/mushyness in the corners with 45.

Not a big difference between 45 & 35 ohm, most people probably wouldn't notice the difference.
