I can honestly say I would be content with any one of the major manufacturers cars save for scx only because of their goofy guides and motors.
If forced to choose, it would be slotit for their value.

I would chose Carrera because of the variety of scales [1/43 to 1/24 scale] quality of the body and paint, [they always look so good] the variety of cars they build, and there prices are with in my budget. A close second would be Ninco classics, but I can buy 2 Carrera cars for the price of one Ninco.

My choice would have to be Scalextric simply because of they have the largest variety of Trans Am cars. Yes-sir-ee I do like my pony cars.

This is an excellent question.... If price price were no object (in my lower-middle class income world) it would be Ninco because of the classics.
On the realistic side I'm going with Pioneer; yes, they have had some problems but are coming back up to speed and have some great classics in the pipeline. Also their chassis work great under all kinds of bodies!

I'm glad you guys are enjoying the question, because I'm really enjoying the responses. And of course, there's no right and wrong.

I know it's a limited sample and all that, but it's been interesting that out of about 25 reponses, only three have said Slot.It, and only one said NSR. Slot.It consistently scores high in quality, performance, value, customer service, all the things that point to a great company with a great product. It may be because HRW leans more towards American muscle than other boards do, and Slot.It and NSR don't do much there. The closest to American muscle in the Slot.It lineup is the GT40, the Chaparral, and the McLaren. Carrera has done a lot for the American racing scene, and LOTS of folks are saying Carrera.

But now that I've said something, it will probably skew the responses. lol

Another (the second?) vote for Fly. A few reasons:

1. Very wide range of cars. And yes: I know many of the "new" Flyslot cars are often just "warmed over" oldies. But there is still a vast supply of NIB old release cars out there.
2. Lot of cars from my preferred era (classics such as the 917, T70 Mk III, GT40's etc etc)
3. With a trivial amount of work most of them can be made to run beautifully (option 1 for me) and with a manageable amount of work they can be made to be almost as fast as Slot.its and NSRs (option 2 for a small number of cars).
4. In spite of the age of many of their models: still great looking cars.

Correction: Fly has been mentioned before but was never chosen as The One. So I am the first Fly-er it seems

I like the Fly/Flyslot choice, too, but probably neither one of us puts a lot of emphasis on American muscle. Great variety, though.

Interesting that nobody has said Monogram, but then again, Mark hasn't chimed in yet. :)

Not to mention a good variety of police cars and fire chief cars. And Cheetahs. And Cobras. And Chevelles. And vintage stockers.

In the US market, the closest Carrera has been to a misstep was with the floppy front axles on the Chevelle, and that's small potatoes. It makes sense that the responses have been tilted heavily Carrera's way. :)
