FK 180 motor

Postby slotracin » Fri Jan 10, 2014 7:58 pm

I am looking to replace a couple FK 180 motors from 25,000 rpm down to 18,000 - 20,000 . My track is a 16' x 4' technical track with the longest straight being 13' . What would be a good choice?

How many volts are you running? Ninco makes a lot of FK180's that are lower RPM ratings than what you have. They are rated at 14.8 v. If you are using less voltage, maybe some that are rated higher than 18K like the NC-5 would work. They also make lower revving motors but Ninco motors if you want to pay full freight but like all of their products they are kinda pricey. There are folks who take NC-5 motors out of their classics so they might be had in the second hand market. YOu might check with Brian at BRS Hobbies. He is a Ninco dealer and a sponsor here on this site.

I'd agree on the NC5s if you can get them. At 12v they actually run around 14-15500 RPM. All of the Ninco motor specs are at 14.5 volts. So for any of them running at 'standard' track voltages around 10- 12v you can look at knocking 1/5 to 1/4 of they stated RPM range.

I'd definitely look at second hand because the new prices are around $20-30.
