Decided to do a little comparison, just to see if the Astons or the Corvettes are the better runners. Trach has been unused for some time, some normally lap times drop a little after longer racing. After 120 to 150 laps, they normally stabilize.
So, first on the track was the Corvette with #4, after 42 laps, the best lap time was 10.587. Next on the track, Corvette with #63. After 39 laps, it had dialed in a 10.547. Hm.. not bad.
Time to switch cars, running on the track now, Aston Martin #33, this car looks great on the track. 36 laps with a best time of 10.355. So, the Astons are faster than the Vettes? The car with the nicest paint scheme (i really, really like that british racing green) will try its best. And that´s much. The motor in the 009 feels stronger than in the 33, but it runs a little rougher. After 44 laps, best time was 10.124. Again faster.
To see if the track got faster or if the cars are faster, i run the #4 Corvette again. And surprise, surprise, best time afer 30 laps got down to 10.157.
So, in the end i´m quite satisfied, it looks like all those nice GT cars run pretty equal and it will depend on the driver which car will win. I like that.
Out of curiosity, i run the 962 with type 3 chassis and CarGo tires for comparison. Dialed in a 9.662. LMP´s are faster than GT´s ;)
To see if there´s a difference between the type 3 and my scratchbuilt chassis under the 2nd 962, the track told me, too. 50 laps (it ran so nice i could not stop), the lap timer showed a 9.587. So, at the end of the day, a homebuild styrene chassis got the best time :D , but with not much air :D
To see if there is an improvement over a stock Aston, i had one. With stock tires and everything else also stock, apart from a little tire sanding, the car goes on the track. After 30 laps, 12.022 was the best time i could get out of it.
