monogram lola tire question

Postby seal666 » Thu Jan 30, 2014 7:37 pm

Harry and the HRW team
My revogram Lola has developed a problem, which I may have caused. I got 2 for Christmas and enjoy running them. After light tire sanding one of them sounds like its running on the gear and not the tire. I reaalize the solution is go to a slightly larger rear tire, but I hate to lose the pinstripe on the origional.Any suggestions would be appreciated.

Thanks

This will require additional applications depending on your rubbin but the best and most realistic way I habve found is. Take the tire and mount it on a wheel / axle. Put axle in hand drill, one that has speed control is best.
Get enamel paint of choice and a very fine brush, spin the drill and just touch the tire where you want the stripe.

Theoretically you could lower the axle assembly by changing the position of the bearings, which would return some of your clearance, or go to a smaller crown gear. These are more involved than replacing the tires and repainting the stripe though.....

Some real good ideas. I like Bibsters approach using somerhing as a kind of stamp. An empty shot glass comes to mind( guess I'll have to empty it first. Did see th article where the gear was replaced. At this point a bit more work than I want to deal with, getting lazy as I age. As far as spinning wheels and paint bruhes, lets just say George Barris I'm not.

May try an adaptation of Bibsters idea, stamping an image on paint masking, remove the material I need to and use the old airbrush to spray accrylic paint to create the tire stripe.

Thanks for the help.
