Images needed - Cunningham C1

I'm hoping one of you lads with a big library will be able to help me out here. I'm chasing source images of the above mentioned car in either civilian or racing guise. I've been doing a bit of net trawling with limited success (could be due to phone limitations).

Here's one shot that I've found in street clothes.


Any help greatly appreciated. I'm guessing it raced in Briggs Cunningham blue on white.

I came up with nothing either, even the internet bible racing sports cars has no picky.
Maybe when you read the racing stats from the same site, you'll see why.

(chuckle) I do love an underdog. :)

Got a resin shell, from Munter, and I was looking at possibly adding some more detail to the finish on it. Hence the wish for some images. I've also got to make a windscreen for it.

I guess with a racing record like that no one should argue too hard against a fantasy livery. Seems like it's racing history falls a bit into the fantasy category. :)

White with blue striping is the traditional color scheme for American cars in Intl. competition. Italy is red, Belgium is yellow, France is light blue, Spain is red with yellow striping, Japan is white with a red spot, England is BRG, with or without white striping, Germany is silver with black or red, and on and on it goes. In the last few decades with such an explosion of advertising on the cars, its pretty much all gone.

That looks like her, Ted... Sorta. At least the nose does.

I didn't think red was initially allocated to the Italians. Wasn't it yellow or white? I know red is now the accepted colour due mainly to Ferrari. I seem to recall that France, Germany and England were the only ones still inclined to used their traditional colours. Let's face it, in the earliest days the US weren't playing with Europe. They were having too much fun cutting circles in the back yard just like we were.

The photos throughout are in B&W but since you already know the colors that shouldn't be a problem. If you click on "LeMans" and go to 1951 there is some info on the C1; apparently it was a "street" car but it sounds as if 2 of them were possible "mules" for the C2s.

I love that era of racing and particularly his approach to LeMans over the years. I have a LeMonstre resin body that I have to get around to finishing....not to say it's large but I'm using an R-M stocker chassis under it!
