I don't know why, but Walgreen's has perfect 1/32 scale 1967 VW Beetles for $6 in the nicest Corvette red you ever saw. They are pull-back cars but they look great on my track's scenery area. There's also a 1957 black and white Corvette that is slightly too small for scale, but you can't tell from over six feet away.

Walgreens around here is like our Wal-Marts. One store will have some toys, one will not. I still check them anyway. They used to have some nice PEZ dispenser models that were almost s[pot on 1/32. Looked a little odd, but we ran them for fun.

Diecast or plastic bodies?

I have two of these cars. They are diecast with plastic chassis.
There is someone in England who converts them with Scalextric chassis. I've asked for a look at the chassis without success.

The blue and white car IS Scalextric- a recent release.

The red car isn't die cast. Its old fashioned tinplate, and easily light enough for the Scaley chassis to haul it around without trouble. I've just about decided to go get the Corvette and test it for scale. For both the Corvette and the Beetle, the tire sidewalls are too short. A simple swap out will fix that.

I have four of the VW bus's from CVS, I see a trend here, to make vehicles for an IROC series that will be run later this year. I'm using MRRC chassis's for this conversion. The bus has what appears to be pot metal for the upper half of the body. The lower half is plastic. So far the bus runs pretty fair for what it is.

I need a doublecab. I have a real one that I'm going to sell soon, along with several others of my VWs. I want to paint a doublecab to match mine. That blue and white Beetle is going to be painted to match my college car which I still have. I'm going to paint one of the buses I got from Dave to match my bus, which was my work truck for years. I want to take a picture of all three with their 1/32 counterparts.

Our club got a whole bunch of those die cast buses and made them into slot cars, err buses. With the metal part on the top, they had to be loaded with lead to stay upright. In spite of the lead, mine rolled over so often I nicknamed it "Rollover Beethoven". That company also makes 1950s pick-up trucks in 1/32 scale.

I went back today and picked up the '57 Vette. In comparing it to the Ninco Vettes, I found that the Ninco cars are too large and the little diecast (this one is diecast), is very close to scale.
