The small foam delta dart planes you use to get from the corner Lawsons store.

Water rockets from that same store too.

25 cent packs of Star Wars cards.

Electric football games with the little players that vibrated about. I had the Super Bowl set one year with the Denver Broncos/Dallas Cowboys teams.

Estes and Centurian model rockets. We would shoot these off all day long and chase them down in the corn field next to us.

Walkie Talkies. I had an Army green set I got for Christmas one year. The following Summer someone stole them out of the back seat of my Dad's carwhile visiting my Grand Parents. I've never been the same since......

Dave, I have been looking for a 450 Trail exactly like that to restore and ride around on the property for years and years. People either wreck them or keep them. I passed on the one I found for sale two years ago because it had a documented 94 total miles on it, and the guy was selling it as a museum piece. Waaay too much for riding around.

That 450 OHC engine had enough torque to haul my butt around without being a big heavy bike. Perfect for around here.

Sorry, just saaw this thread, so if somebody already said this appologies

BUT, I remeber 5 & dime stores, now we got Dollar stores! that probably pretty much reflects inflation over the last 40 or 45 years! :violin:

I got my pocket money by walking the highway close to our house and scouring the shoulder for returnable bottles, hard work cause most of them busted when people threw them out the window, But on a good Saturday I could get between 8 & 20 and if I was lucky there would be a couple of the large 2 quart size bottles!! Allota work for what amounted to about 80 cents (average). Then everything went to aluminum cans, which were good cause more people would through them out and they were light weight, but bad because we only got like 8 cents a pound and my folks would have to drive us over to the recycling place to cash them in. Probably burned as much money driving over there in our '65 Falcon as we made cashing'em in!! What was gas then, $.68? $.80 cents a gallon maybe less??? Jeez I feel old! :violence-stickwhack:

Had one of those V-8s.
The spark plugs had little red light bulbs that where switched on by wires going to the distributor.

Chk out the Dad smoking a pipe in his son's ear.....he'd be jailed nowdays :?

I think they had a Wankel version too.

In defense of modern day, I mention the Razor scooter! Take an old, somewhat safe design with laid back steering angle, large diameter wheels and long wheelbase, then change it. The Razor has a steep head tube angle, a 360 degree front fork so effectively the axle could be trailing, steepening the head tube angle more. Put really small wheels on and make the wheel base short too.
They are twitchy and little kids love them..... they should come with a package of bandages and hydrogen peroxide.

I had the V8, many moons ago. Still have an unbuilt Visible Man kit in a box someplace (think I fooled around with the skeleton  ). I concur on Renwall being "open minded" in their products; anyone remember their 1/25 modern classics? There was a Stutz and a Jordan Playboy, that I had. Very cool, if simple, kits.

I built the visable V-8 kit in my teens, with the motorizing kit. I still have it.

Dave- You still have it? That by itself is amazing.

I built the Visible Mustang, and fell in love with the airplane. When I was helping with a real P-51, people were amazed at how I knew where carious things were in the plane, under the skin. It was that model that taught me.

Wow.. all this brings back memories. I had a visible V8 model motor back then. You can still get them new and several others all so from novelty catalogs. I all so had candy cigarets, Slow Poke suckers, [basically a slab of carmel on a stick] and I remember saving up for a month to buy the really large Hershey candy bars, they cost .50 cents. the regular size candy bars were .10 cents. Did my fair share of stealing soda bottles for spending money. All so sold night crawlers and mowed yards. I all so had one of those riffles with the gold wood bullet in it. We all had those pistols that shot the round plastic disk. Had an Erector set, Hot wheel cars with the orange plastic track that you set up to run the cars down the stairs, [mom all so figured out this same track made a good child behavior adjustment tool when necessary]. tin ray guns that shot sparks out the front when you pulled the trigger, Revell slot cars. I bought all my model cars and supplies from Ben Franklin 5 and dime just two blocks from home. Sting ray bicycles with the racing slick on the rear. My first motorcycle was a 1969 Honda 350 scrambler, red and white. Eventually wound up with 3 of them for some reason. Man I miss the 60's and 70's. I wouldn't trade places with todays kids for anything.
