Jokes aside: I have to commend you on a very interesting and novel approach. I got a PSK Lotus 40 some time ago: the Lotus 30/40 family was one of my favourites at the time, even though they were absolute dogs. At least they were PRETTY dogs!

To me the Lotus 30 / 40 was almost iconic in slot car racing. So many of them were around "back in the day". I know Cox was producing them. Russkit had a few different varieties running around. One of them had two motors in it.

I'going to have to build one, but it will have to wait until I have full use of my hands again.

The Cox 1/24th Lotus 40 was one of my first slot cars and after that many of the the slot cars I raced had either a Lotus 30 or 40 body attached. They were very low and handled great. Even though the 1:1 cars were less than stellar performers they were always great to look at.

FWIW:

Yes, the later years of US made Strombecker cars were quite cheapie. Your model plainly illustrates that.

However, some of the mid-era cars were very good home set cars: Aluminum chassis, decent tires, decent motors, and many of their after market kits were also very good.

Ran it today. Was pretty impressive. It has the motor out of a Carrera Lola T222 that I had swapped earlier. Nowhere near as fast as a slot.It but fun never the less.
