Google Docs became Google Drive some time ago, it looks like the scam comes in both a Docs and a Drive version. I do use Google Drive, I have found that if you put a PDF with pictures on it in Google Drive the pictures look terrible, so I have found other ways to post my articles. I always avoid clicking on things with vague subject lines and I check the properties of anything that looks suspicious. I have recently gotten a couple of messages from Facebook about my account, however I don't have a Facebook account. When I checked the properties I found that the e-mail was from France.

What is Google Docs & Drive? Is that a Windows thing?

I won't use anything Windows-based because of things just like this, and well, Windows stuff they should pay us to put up with, rather than charge insane amounts for something you can't own.

I use all Apple equipment however Apple is not immune to Phishing, so you still
need to practice smart surfing, Rob.

So this one is a threat to everyone, regardless of OS. In as much as they use these off-site data storage cloud things, anyway. The only way those things make sense to me is for guys who do high level graphics stuff with gigantic files that are ruined with any tiny bit of corruption.

Yep, that's what I thought they were. I was thinking of your graphic stuff when I made the example.

I have written quite a few slot racing related articles including ones on track lighting, variable voltage regulators, picture posting, dead strips for timing systems and tuning T-Jets, Johnny Lightning, Magnatraction and X-Traction cars. Because they tend to be long and contain a lot of pictures and diagrams I have them saved as PDFs and stored on Google Drive. As I mentioned earlier pictures get degraded, in addition the clickable links included in the articles only work if your browser is Google Chrome.
You should be aware that besides phishing e-mails there are also phishing phone calls. Recently I got a call from someone that asked if I had gotten my copy of TV Guide that week. When I said yes they asked if the copy arrived in good shape, then they told me that my subscription was running out and they could give me a good deal on a renewal. Since I had never given TV Guide my number I suspected a scam. This on was more elaborate than usual because the first caller switched me over to a second person who wanted my credit card number. I would never give my credit card number or any personal information to someone on the phone unless I was positive that the were who they said they were. When I told them that they said not to worry because they were bonded! Maybe that meant that they had posted bond, in any case I just hung up. I renewed my subscription via the TV Guide website.
