Austin Mini build 3

Just bought an old Scalextric Austin Mini from Shotgun Dave, but the flares make the body too tall for my taste. So, I lopped them off with the mini saw, re-radiused the wheel arches and re-attached them for a lower stance like my other Mini builds.







Used the chassis from my blue Mini build 2, made a driver interior platform from index card and thankfully had windows from the original car.



I like the patina of the old slot car so I'm just leaving the used finish and have re-attached the original grille and bumpers.







Just need a driver figure and some paint detail to finish.

Very cool! Then again I'm a sucker for a Mini. Just can't seem to get enough of them. I like the patina on yours, like El said, looks like a scrapper. :)

BTW - I'm sure you mentioned it in the old posts - but what chassis was that in your old ride (that is now in this one) - just curious as it really looks to fit the body well! :)

The modded plastic chassis (trimmed front, rear and sides) is from a Reprotec Fiat Abarth. It has the right wheelbase for other small car bodies including the Airfix Bugeye Sprite and SCX Fiat 850 (slant back).

The Ranch Design rims and Paul Gage tires really help to make it a fun runner nipping at the big Trans Ams.

LOL! Actually, I am waiting to see how my current brass design does on the Mav circuit - buuuuuut - ya just never know if there won't be one of those chassis joining the fray from another local member. ;)
