A lot done today..starting with SALSA!

Busy weekend around here. This morning The General started her world famous homemade salsa AND a fresh batch of Hell On Wheels hot sauce!



Yes sir, good start.

Plus, we finished the roof on the Ozark Barn and moved the tractors.



Recycled a lot of older boards, so just a few more to go.

What a day...time to play with cars :)

Thanks General for the great effort and for another day of proper supervision.

I am an International Harvester guy- good friends don't let good friends drive green things- but, I have a 10 year old John Deere mower/garden tractor, a 1961 International Harvester Cub tractor, a 1950 Harvester Farmall Super A, and a Honda mower for around the house. The back 3 acres are strictly Kubota B7500 territory, and I admit to being less than faithful to any of the brands. But I keep the place going, ya know?

Fresh habanero's sir. Just enough kick so you don't get bored.

Habaneros are in the safe zone for me. But I learned fast about Scotch Bonnets and some of the other lethal peppers when I was in Texas. That's to say nothing of the Tepins and that horrible tiny Viet/Cambodian death pepper about the size of a BB. Those things ARE NOT food!

Those are the kind of thing that make you want to get David R. to make you a dang salad!

My mother and my wife can salsa each year from our garden. Once in a while I go to the cupboard and open a jar and the smell alone will clear your sinuses!

I know that salsa is good. I also know everything that Harry and the General make is excellent. I use the old, "If it ain't good I ain't eatin' it". :lol: I'm sure they do the same. :)

John, I'm overrun with deer, too (and a lot of other garden munchers), and I have had 100% success with life-sized rubber snakes (bought from science teacher supply online), wound around cheap orange plastic fencing (the stuff that goes around digging on a construction site). Nothing will go near the garden, including crows. One time, in 12 years of this, one of the snakes wasn't well attached and a hawk swooped down and grabbed it to carry off. Within a second or so, the bird knew it wasn't real and dropped it about 50 feet from the garden. I just went over and put it back in the fence. That hawk is probably still trying to figure it out.

I thought Salsa canning season was toward the end of the growing season! Nice..any how, my last batch I made about 4 yrs ago, I still have a case of quart jars..I had habanero, jalapeno ,serano,cayenne,and tomatoes by the 5 gallon buckets full from the garden ...and pound and pounds of onions, Man my wife couldnt walk by the kitchen with the food processor going.....then like you cook it down for a while! GOOD STUFF!

Yes, she got the urge to make some and it was off to the store.

She has plans for another Salsa garden this year with another full blown canning session in the works.

My sinus issues have been solved.
