Excellent work. Most of my stuff cost nothing as well - just lots of elbow grease and a little imagination. As you've found the internet is a great source for material. Printed things are fine. They can be augmented with a few add-ons to increase interest and realism. As others have said, lighting is important. Play around with a desk lamp and take a bunch of shots with the lamp in different positions - above, left , right, below, reflected off a wall or from the ceiling. You'll quickly see what creates interest and drama. And if your camera can be put on a tripod and activated with a remote, you will see a huge difference. Warning - you will get sucked into the vortex ( to everyone else's benefit).

I assume that is not a digital, but I'm sure it has a time delay option which would have the same effect. The key is to make it shake free so you can dial down the shutter speed without blur. My tripod is about 5 ft tall when extended. I think it was around $50. I'm sure a table top model would be less.

I use a FUJI S5200 FINE PIX I fine that setting my camera on auto works real good. Setting the camera at eye level A plus using photo shop help and taking my time

If you're looking for a table top tripod you will do better looking in person if you can. Most aren't strong enough to hold up the head of a 35mm style DSLR. At least they are not with an old clunker like mine. You may do better with a couple of little bean bags to rest your camera on. The mini tripods don't let you get very low on the table.
