Excellent work. Most of my stuff cost nothing as well - just lots of elbow grease and a little imagination. As you've found the internet is a great source for material. Printed things are fine. They can be augmented with a few add-ons to increase interest and realism. As others have said, lighting is important. Play around with a desk lamp and take a bunch of shots with the lamp in different positions - above, left , right, below, reflected off a wall or from the ceiling. You'll quickly see what creates interest and drama. And if your camera can be put on a tripod and activated with a remote, you will see a huge difference. Warning - you will get sucked into the vortex ( to everyone else's benefit).
