Registration Fee Changes

I decided to make two changes to the registration fees for this proxy. I lowered the fee by $5 for everyone, but added a $5 surcharge for any participant who is not hosting. Since hosts are paying to ship to the next venue, this levels the cost a bit. Again, any $$ left over will be donated to HRW.

I hope everyone is OK with these changes.

Yes, for sure that body and car idea fits right in with the spirit of this proxy.

Not sure about the old Mabuchis. I expect the tracks we use will be in the 10-12 volt range. I suggest you test them all with a 9 volt battery. Whichever seems to run fastest and smoothest, give it a shot.

That motor collection reminds me of the 60s, when I used to race, but for me it was 44 years before I started racing and building slot cars again. I thought slot racing had died in the 70s, until I linked up with Luf and his club. (pun intended)

Anyway, hope you join us for this crazy proxy.

I don't know about the others, but around here we either use Professor Motor or Slot.it controllers. I would assume they could handle the load, but I am not well versed in these things. You wouldn't want to use a rewound motor that was super hot for this, like we did in the 60s.

Vintage, jump right in if the vintage Nascar modified has any part of a pre 1948 body. I believe the first ever Nascar race was won in a 41 Ford coupe. Any kind of old jalopy or hot rod works for this one.

My guess is those motors would be a little hot for home tracks making it tough to control. A standard FC130 motor would be your best bet.

Not to rain on anybody's parade but the 16 D motors will burn up a lot of the controllers we use down in the basement.

I know it happen to our group a few times B-4 we banned them.
There are a lot of other motors out there that are way better than the 16 D & the controllers have no problems handling them.

I know the track and controller combo I will be using can handle the any of the old motors - however, I personally have no issue restricting it to something newer / smaller if it opens up the cars to running on more tracks. :)
I think I have more than enough oddball FC130/FK130/FK180 types that are take outs, came as extras in parts I bought or have been sourced from things like battery powered tooth brushes, engravers, etc. - will just need a "ruling". ;)

I think we should leave the 16D's out of the mix. Could cause some problems. I would say any of those Todd listed. Retro's call though.

Hi Everyone;

Just got back from ten day trip around Scotland. Had a great trip and brought back my allowable number of bottles of scotch that I can't buy here. Slainte!

Now back to reality.

I think if a person has a motor that can usually run with all their other cars and no problems, then go for it. This is an open proxy after all. In the 60s we ran those motors on commercial tracks, but they also were good on club tracks. That said, there are lots of more modern motors in most racers parts boxes.

Retro sorry man. But I'm going to have to back out of this proxy and hosting this time. Just got to much going on and a lot of castings that need built. Maybe if you do it again I'll be able to.
