UK Slot Car Festival

I just wondered if any HRW members are planning to be in UK during the weekend 17/18th May.

If so it would be well worth considering a visit to Warwick.



This is a fantastic event which gets better and bigger each year.

This year, they've extended it to two days. One day of it is about as much excitement as we can stand, so we're going on the Sunday.

Would like to know if anyone's planning to be there.

I can't get there, but I would like it if you would walk around with a video camera and post the results. It could inspire a trip across the pond for a few of us.

I had the very great pleasure of attending last years Festival. As David has said it is unbelievable.
Words hardly do it justice, as it is something you just have to experience to believe it.
It was like being in a Super Wal-Mart with nothing but slot car items.
If you couldnt find something there, you had to have had your eyes shut. So many tracks set up to use, somewhere around 20 I think, all the major manufacturers were there and every scale represented and every type of racing you could think of. HO, TO 1/24th. Even the superfast brass chassied BSCRA, rally, drag, classic , it just goes on and on. And if thats not enough it is held in a very well presented Automotive museum which is included in the entry fee. 1 day was clearly not enough time to see it all, not even close so this years should be a real weekend slot party.
Wish imcould go back this year, but thats just being greedy.
Hope some of you can make it as it is a great event.

If I was going to Warwick, the slot festival wouldn't be the only place I'd like to see.

I am intrigued by the "oval banger racing" Does it include mash? LOL

If you do go, Matt Tucker had his Banger racing oval, set up last year for all to try, and the more complex brass slot stox were there too, free to have a go. There were rally tracks set up for people to try and the times recorded to see who had best time at the end of the day..... jeez I'm drooling again.

I think the guys behind Slot Rally GB have a championship round planned for the weekend. And they'll be running a Stage of the World Rally Proxy 2014 as well. So, there'll be plenty of rally tracks.

David Caille of Sillage Racing will be there with one of his BLST tracks for display and testing. Not sure if Rick will be there with Scorpius, but I'm sure there'll be someone there displaying Scorpius.

The SlotCar MAG editors will be there, and have again produced a special edition of the magazine that will be handed out to everybody.

And the list goes on and on....

I understand George will be there with some exciting new stuff, and some with custom Richard Mack chassis.
Also Andy Hankin will be running the oval, this year for, the bangers and Stox.
As Embs said the list just goes on. If interested, google the UK slot festival site.
It has a list of who and what will be on, and over 2 days this year.
It is an event that wont dissapoint.

That platter of bangers and mas looks so good, I may change the menu for tonight. I haven't made that in years, and I love it. That was one of two new ways to eat familiar foods that I picked up in Southern Ontario as a boy and never forgot. Yummy.

And the canal locks remind me of my favorite Rosemary & Thyme episode. Oh Felicity, I miss you...

Also, that is a one very interesting oval track. Its deceptive, in that the very tight squeeze on one end is offset by the wide open opposite end. I wonder if it is also slightly banked on the open end for even more dynamic change from the squeeze end. The deceptive part is that those differences make it very tough to get into a rhythm quickly in a heat. By the time you settle in, the heat is half over. Its a very clever device to make a small oval hard to master. I don't think that catch wall is nearly adequate unless they run at 9 volts!
