JK Falcon motors

Digging around in the garage I came across 3 older, but brand new, Falcon motors. They are marked JK II, JK III and JK V. I know a few years ago they were sort of popular aftermarket/scratch-builders motors. Anybody got any info on these? Specs? Value? Possible uses?

Yeah, me too. I keep coming across them when I'm on a parts safari and I mean to look into them, but don't. If you find out about them and it isn't on here, how about passing the info along?

One was a mistake and was it that the brush timing was backwards?

The Falcon II is reverse rotation, so that racers using the Millenium chassis could run right side drive. It is
otherwise the same as the the Falcon I. The Falcon III was an improvement on the Falcon I, a little more RPM.
The Falcon V was the follow up to the Falcon IV, which had reliability problems. Falcon Is and IIs are about
47000 RPM at 12.5 volts. The IIIs are about 52000 RPM. I think the Falcon V is about 55000 RPM. These
are 1/24th scale motors. The Falcon i and Falcon II motors are great for 1/24th scale oval cars on routed
ovals.

The Slick 7 motor does have a different can than the others. One thing I can warn
about; the Slick 7 motor sometimes misses laps on Lapmaster timing systems using
a dead strip. You can sometimes find JK Hawk 7 motors at a better dicount, since
they were never homologated for class racing. It is the fastest of the FK series
motors. If you want a mini-can motor with replacable brushes (loke the Pro-Slot
motors) JK has a Hawk 6, wich is very fast.

You are right that they are totally not suited for 1/32 cars unless better bushings and gears are used than are found on your average 1/32 car and even then they are just way too fast to be enjoyable.

That alone probably explains why they are in the bottom of my motor box.

That track is much larger than the average home track. We used to run GP12 motors in 1/32 production cars
on large tracks. All Falcon motors are over 35000 rpm. They run fine on a commercial track, but on home tracks
with 6 inch radius curves they are just too fast. They are even pretty fast on our oval in 1/24th scale cars.

Harry; I think you have some video of the 1/24th sprint cars on your oval. These are Falcon I and Falcon II motors.
