Good looking fantasy livery. Looks like Jules is getting up to speed slowly but surely. I got a reply from him over on Facebook that things were picking up. The higher price doesn't suprise me since he's dealing with UK overhead instead of China. Hopefully things will keep improving, though I don't ever expect to see the volume that he had when he was in the Far East.

Looks like things are looking up for Pioneer. I just picked up the stealth Camaro this afternoon at my LHS. :) They had the Blue Camaro too but I didn't have enough money at this time. :(

The "General" is politically incorrect as it has a confederate flag on the roof. ;) It ought to sell well in the southern USA

Hi Bob,

I think that confederate flag issue has been dealt with in the past. If I recall my licencing facts correctly the car can not be sold in the USA, so all you good 'ol boys will have to buy it from OS slot suppliers.

cheers

I must admit I've become quite partial to Pioneers. Started off just buying their chassis for my scratchies and then 2 or 3 of the mustangs. I think I'll be adding a Camaro or two at some stage.

Regarding that business about not being able to sell a Dukes of Hazard Charger over there. Did they sell the Scalextric General Lee in the US?

They are here, but probably not from a US outlet. It is soo silly. They still put reruns on the TV but you can't buy a toy car with a confederate flag on the roof.

I doubt the marketing arrangement has anything specifically to do with the confederate flag, which while it does trigger strong reactions in those who saw it come to represent hate and intolerance, is not banned. Yes, it was the guys who hung out under a confederate flag that vandalized my truck at a dirt track in Pennsylvania, which the state police said was racially motivated, but it can represent different things to different people. The General Lee is iconic, not divisive in my opinion. And I'm not for tiptoeing around any topic, and favor dialogue so we increase understanding.

Marketing arrangements are what they are and it's likely another company, such as Scalextric, has exclusive American rights for the car. That would have nothing to do with anything except $.

Now back to the topic of Pioneer, they were once my favorite brand and I have all of their Trans Am replica liveries. I'd still be interested in a #6 Sunoco Camaro but not the fantasy liveries. A Smokey Yunick Camaro would be sweet too.

I really like the '68 Charger from Pioneer !!!
They have several versions but I like the blue car with the white top.
But....I spent many months of my allowance on a wood track/frame/and a ton of STUFF from SCC to get the track running.

I consider everyone here a friend and friends can learn a lot from sharing thoughts and perspectives.

Such as, I now have 11 new Scalextric Trans Am cars that I think are going to be very competitive with the Pioneer Mustangs without adding silicone tires. I'm encouraged by positive comments about the new tire compound. But, if I ever saw a Pioneer Camaro in one of the hobby shops I visit when traveling I'd probably buy it. Hope Jules can get enough out there for people to see in person.

I just got this exact car as a blem from Jules. I have to say I love it. The paint is really outstanding. The only blem I see is one of the numbers is missing a minute part of the outline. Nevertheless, I run my cars and something like that doesn't bother me when I can save a good bit of money on the car.

The camaros run right in there with the new SCX cars. I bought a couple of the new SCX camaros that were on sale and pointed out by others on here. The Pioneer and the SCX cars run neck and neck. The Pioneer seems to have a little quieter gear mesh which is nice.

All-in-all great job Jules and Pioneer  . Keep it up.

I didn't know SCX makes Camaros. I have their Barracuda and it is about the best SCX car I have driven.

I now have 5 Pioneer Camaros, 1 Stealth, 2 Orange and 2 Blue. Nice cars but they do require some chassis work to get body float. I have 3 of them fixed as of now. I still haven't figured out the logic behind the long guide shafts, but that's what they make sprue cutters for. :)

I have been collecting current and vintage 1/32 slot cars from all the notable manufacturers for many years. I stumbled upon Pioneer's B-5 blue w/white vinyl top '68 dodge Charger R/T, bought it and looked at it oddly. As an impressionable young teenager, one of the older guys down the block, bought this same exacting 1:1 Dodge Charger R/T....same color, same top, same R/T stripe....a 383 4-speed car. I remember standing in awe every time he drove by.... The "rumpity-rumpity" sounds from the low restriction exhaust system.... And the screaming sounds coming from those red-striped F70x14 rear tires as they smoldered away every time the clutch was side-stepped.
I come on some thin-times a while back any sold off about 90% of my collection... Pioneer Charger included and the only PIoneer car in my collection.
I am now back and I bought the blue & white Charger again. I sold the first one at a loss and bought this second one for more than I paid for the first. Not only do I own the blue and while one again, but five other additional Pioneer Chargers grace my collection and I am on the hunt for a few more select Chargers as well.... Oh and I forgot the nicely used Mustang notchback that I race and....as I type here now, I patiently await the arrival of my preordered '67 Sunoco/Penske/ Donahue Camaro.
Yes, back then I looked at that Pioneer Charger oddly and compared it to my other cars in my collection...
Today, I compare all others in my collection to my Pioneer cars.
Jules, keep up your high standards..choice of cars and liveries... I for one am patient and will await your next production. In between production, I can spend my time filling in the missing Pioneers from my collection.
Thanks
oldtimer
