TGIF - Happy Mother's Day

Postby HomeRacingWorld » Fri May 09, 2014 5:52 am

What a week. The old Skunkworks has had a workout the past few weekends and I think I have it back to normal (messy) :)

Going to try and treat the General and my daughter to a decent meal this Sunday. Slow rolled BBQ ribs, some beef, and hopefully a nice surprise or two. The General sure deserves a pampering for all she puts up with.

Then projects will take over. MT Resin Camaros, and will try to get some decent paint on my Ford vs Chevy 1/24 projects.

Hope all of you have a great weekend and HAPPY MOTHERS DAY :)

My wife's birthday is the 10th and then with Mother's Day it was too much pressure so I shipped her off to Philly. Actually she went to see our son compete in the Dad Vail Regatta for his school, MSOE. He is competing in the Men's Lightweight 4's and the good news is that they had the fastest time out of six heats in their event so they will be in the semi finals tomorrow and hopefully make it to the finals. I think she is having one of the best Mother's Day / birthdays she could ask for.

My mum's birthday on the 10th, which is today. Took her to the ballet last night. Australian Ballet Dancer's Company, which is essentially the dancers who graduated form the Aus Ballet School last year and a few junior principals from the main company. Not a bad night considering the pitifully small stage they had to deal with. The accidental bonus was that the costume design for the show was by my second cousin. It must've been about her last set of designs before she headed over to work with Ralph Lauren about 5 years ago.

Anyway. His Lordship is off fishing today so I might spend the day in the toy room. I'd better have a look at my Carrera R8 and see what I can do with it for this proxy.

Mother's Day will be spent at my daughter's home with all the grandkids (7) present. Of that group, only 3 fully belong to my daughter, the other 4 come from her husband's previous marriage. So, it's always a full house on holidays.

Got a couple of projects I'm currently working on. Getting ready for next Sunday, May 18th as we have one of our Can-Am Sundays planned for DeBary Glen. Might have to show up with at least one new and possibly two new Slot.It "Classics" for the event.

Yes, photos will be posted prior to the event.

Tonight though it's Camping World Trucks at Kansas.

Whew, what a day. Had Papaw duty with the youngest little angel. Ice cream and cookies is ok for dinner right? I mean after the cheeseburgers and fries?

Will be catching up on mail now :)

Glad the weekend is here, yup. Got the garage floor cleaned up enough to set up the track tonight, and got a few laps in on each lane to freshen it up. I have pawpaw duty tomorrow, and he told me yesterday that we needed to set up the track  So I will be putting the walls back on tomorrow before he comes over.

My wife loves roses, but told me tonight not to get the cut variety....she wants some rose bushes for the front yard :banana-dance:
So we will be visiting the greenhouse this weekend.

Took the fetching Mrs. Reinecke out for dinner at a fancy place: Panera Bread. AWESOME breads and soups. I skipped the salad, and somewhere an angel lost it's wings...

I then took her to Home Depot to get building items for the garage. I'm going to build a proper work bench, sort and arrange the garage tomorrow after we do a morning hike.

We may be getting some of that solid water we are famous for on Sunday, so we'll do a nice breakfast, Church, and probably a movie depending on the weather.

I start putting the shop together to get RMS going again on Monday!

Not much of a Mother's Day for me. My mother-in-law passed away April 30th, and the wife passed away last March so it hasn't been a good year. I still have a bunch of slot projects as always so I have plenty to keep me busy. :)

I know the wifey is going to have a great Mother Day. Our son (only) came home from college today for the summer. He chose to come home this summer, as he stayed at the college the last few summers with a job on campus.
And since he'll still be home in June, I'll get to enjoy Father's Day with him home as well.

Happy Mother's Day to all the girls who put up with our scale car madness.
