The show yesterday was filled up with sold out vendor tables, and activity was brisk for the first few hours.
Once the sun broke through in the early afternoon, that was about it for the day. Pretty good turnout for a sunny Sunday in the middle of May!
Bob "Mr. Aurora" Beers left this morning on his cross country slot car tour. Unfortunately, I had to decline his invitation to accompany him.
I could afford the time, but not the expense of a month long road trip. My loss. :>(
Bob and I had spent a great extended weekend together at the Monterey Historic Races back in 2003, celebrating the 100th Anniversary of FORD Racing.
We met up with a local slot enthusiast working at the track, and visited with the late Greg Katz who proudly introduced us to his spectacular KATZ-SPA-RING track.
What a privilege to have met Greg and drive some of my own cars on that fantastic circuit!
Bob's gonna have a great time, and I wished him a safe and happy journey yesterday as we all drove off from Parsippany.
What a way to kick off your retirement, huh? He's gonna post daily updates, I believe on that there HobbyTalk thing, somewhere else on the web.
Have a great summer racin' -- keep the A/C turned up! :>) -- Ernie
