dirt roadster challenge

Thought i would google "dirt roadsters" and see what i came up with. knowing all the time that i would see the usual T roadsters and track T's that we are familiar with,and so i did.
However! i did see a bunch of mid to late thirty's cars with some of the wildest roll cage/bars that i had ever seen.
Now given the shortage of available coupe and sedan bodies out there, i thought i would offer up a challenge to all the Jalopy builders out there,to see what kind of roadsters we could build? anyone up for it? I build in 1/32,but dont see any reason why any scale should be excluded from the fun challenge.How bout it Dave? Harry? ya'll got to many projects going for another one on the bench? Wayne,youve got some cool doorslammers,but a Dirt Drop top? Just a tongue in cheek tossing of the old gauntlet! :D

I need to acquire a few of the 1/32 '34 coupes to do also!

Why not whack the roofs off of them to make roadsters out of them?

All they would need is a roll bar and the added dirt for the effect.....

I think you guys and myself talked myself into some more scratch builds to build!!!! :lol:

looks like there are some takers! should be a great chance for some interior details that are usually hard to see. there must be at least 10 different roadster body's in 1/32 on e-bay,and i'll bet the 1/24 choices are great!
Im thinkin true roadster,not a whacked coupe,but hey! whatever works best,im for it.

I vote 1/24 - 1/25th scale.There's a lot of choices for open-top cars out there. :twocents-mytwocents:

I cant run 1/25 scale on my track but I would build that scale if that's what everyone wants (oh yea, I can)

If you posted these before, I must have missed it. Very nice job to say the least...on all of them.

I am in the middle of a Jalopy style build, so it will be awhile for mine to start.

But I am in, and doing 1/25th scale. I don't think it matters what scale we do, in fact a mixture of scales would just make this group build more fun to watch :)

VERY nice cars! love the willy's conversion,and you are right the roadster conversion does work well.
And i agree with Harry on the varied scales,will be very interesting to see what everyone come up with.

I have a very similar car started months ago,its on a vintage strombecker chassis.
ill try and post a picture of it,i had thought about doing a group of track T's,then i got hooked on the jalopy's!

I think I should mention for Dave, the open cars and the coupes were the same body in those days. They just welded a roof on the basic body for the coupes. A lot of what we call coupes were actually misnamed cabriolets, which were like a permanently up convertible top made of wood bows just like the convertible, but with the canvas doped like an airplane wing into a very stiff permanent roof. The idea was that it looked like a normal open car, but you had the benefits of an all-weather car. So, really, they were all made to be open cars.

Found some donor cars,One great body for the challenge,they are on the way,and got my wheels and tires in today
