Hot off a runner-up finish at Susky in the ARDC finale, Bruce Buckwalter rolled to a four-point victory over Carey Becker in the USAC midget feature last evening to cop his first midget win in any organization. Down by a marker, Lee Greenawalt topped Dave Balloch in a tie-breaker for third as Mike Lengel edged Tim Buckwalter in the same fashion for fifth in the 50 lapper.
The trailing 75 lap USAC dirt champ event was one of those races where almost everyone had a chance to win as the top eight drivers finished within a five point margin. It was Balloch, though, who broke the tie with Carey Becker by posting no wrecks against Becker's lone miscue to swipe the checkered flag. One point behind, Tim Buckwalter earned third place while Lengel wrecked out in his lane five segment to wind up fourth. Homer Hiester may not have been the fastest, but he made no mistakes to best Bruce Buckwalter and Trevor Kobylarz in the tie for the fifth spot.
