Thanks Ember. Just a trial run really. I have a canal side shot in mind for the Bugatti which I think will be excellent. As well, I'm doing a diorama for my Pit Row. I can't get any good shots of it in situ as it faces the garage wall. The Editor of Slot Mag (who are they?) emailed me and wants me to do a story on it and I want some good shots surrounded by real foliage.

Ooohh... Cogratulations.

OK. There are two magazines that have a similar name and shouldn't be confused.

SlotCar MAG is edited and produced by Marc "Abbo" Abbott and Ric "Mooster" Woods with some assistance from Wayne "Sunsetman" Took. (www.slotcarmag.co.uk) I can provide email addresses for Marc and Ric.

The other is SLOT Magazine which is backed by a commercial publishing house. The best way I know of getting in touch with them would be via Gary at MRE (www.mre.co.uk).I think he is one of the editors of the magazine.

Yes, I was pushing it trying the mid day sun. The bigger issue is aligning the large and small to put them in credible perspective to one and other.

I don't know if this was the look you were going for, but all I did was a little contrast and under-exposure. I think it looks like the real thing...but like I said on a different forum, BETTER!!!

Doug, welcome aboard. The exposure fix definitely looks better.

Peter, how are you achieving this? Are you shooting from ground level? Or is the model raised on something?

I found a second tripod to be a very useful addition to the tools. Mount a plate/board on it that can be used for sitting the model on. The tripod gives the ability to adjust the angle of attack on the model.

Nice to see you here Doug. Yes, that's better, but I still need to get a shot with a little less sunlight. I was dealing with bits of mid day light, shadows from the trees and a bright water surface so the camera and I were both confused. My main objective at the moment was to get the perspectives more or less correct. I'm fairly happy with that aspect but not totally there yet.

Ember - it's on a base which I made last night to replicate the section of track that my pit row sits on. As I mentioned elsewhere, the pits face my garage wall so I can't get a good angle unless I use a mirror. Even at that, it's at a downward angle and the background is the rest of my garage. The base will allow me to get whatever angle I want with whatever background I choose. In the photo the base is sitting 18" off the ground on a bench. The venue is a park down the street from my house, facing a small lake.
