Purchased a NSR Ford GT40 Mk.IV instead

After deliberating about getting the white Dodge challenger I went back on ebay only to find a NSR ford GT40 Mk.IV with only a few hours left on the auction stalled at $50, so I entered a max bid of $60 as the shipping was rather high. Later when I checked in I was surprised to find I had won the auction at $53 + $18 shipping for a total of $71. I think that's pretty good for a car from NSR and less than what I would end up paying for the same car from MRRC. I only have a few cars from NSR and I hope this one is as good as the others. It is the dark blue #4 car driven by L. Ruby and D. Hulme in the 1967 24hrs. of Le Mans.

Bob tha is an excellent grab. NSR are great running cars, but the Ford Gt 40 is annexceptional, running car.
Very easy to, tune and balance for a very smooth and quick racer. You should be well pleased with it.

Hey, Bob, great find there! I used to have a MkIV, which I sold when I stepped over onto the P68. I found the MkIV a little too tail happy for my liking (not that it was undrivable) compared to the GT40 or the P68. If you are patient enough to wait until the car is pointing in the right direction out of a corner, before you squeeze the panic button, then you can lay down some decent lap times. And as chappy says, it can be tuned to be that very fast car that you want it to be.

ModlerBob,

Something I have found doing some searching is an EVO chassis for the NSR Classic cars. It includes front axle height adjustment.

If all goes according to plan, I hope my NSR Porsche 917K will have it's new NSR1425 EVO Black chassis with front axle ride height adjusters installed. I found mine at Slot Car Corner.

Bob, If you want a fun car- not a fast car- treat yourself and swap out that hefty stock power-plant for an M/T-1 motor. The combination of precision NSR gearing and butter-slick M/T-1 power-band has turned my Mk IV in to one of the most entertaining cars that I can put in the slot. Yes, NSR's are made for racing, and going to a milder motor flies in the face of that, but man oh man, talk about a smile-inducing car. At the very least, give it a try some time, if for nothing else than a change of pace.

Wow, the car made it from Hong Kong in less than 10 days. It looks even better in person. If I can get the interior out without much trouble I will do some detail painting and tone down that chrome engine bay. I'm not much of a Ford man but now that I have it I think it is the best looking of the original Ford GT series. Performance report soon.

Bob, That spare tire in the back? Glue it in place. I had read other people suggest this and ignored it. Then one day I'm scooting around and the car suddenly seized up. The spare had vibrated around so much that it became all gummed up in the spur. That was a heck of a shock while running the car with the M/T-1, so I imagine it would become a much larger issue if you're running at top speed with that Shark motor.
