Had a "almost" real time track report of these new F1 models. I am hearing they are fantastic.

Hmmm interesting about the "idler" gear concept. Im assuming this was done to allow some design freedoms in the actual model rather than from a performance viewpoint. Use of smaller overall diamter gears. Idler concepts have been around from the 60/70s, as far as performance they didnt work then and I seen no reason why they would work now?

Nice touch with the Intel inside logo ripoff. :D Watch that space....lets see if Intel takes issue with it.

I think they will pull it off. This design team is using high quality parts (unlike a Fly) and have a very solid track record (get it?..heheh).

They just proved you can deliver a slot car with plastic wheels on a smooth axle that won't fall off. At least they are starting out right.

Dont get me wrong Mr H. If they bring out a range of early 70s F1 cars Im all for it.... but somethimes the emperor doesnt have any cloths on and no one saying so doesnt change the fact. Im just saying that to me it looks like they have do this to free up the design aspect rather than the performance aspect. Happy to be proven wrong. With regards the "intel" logo I saw a model car pulled very quickly on another forum. They didnt have the rights to the Ferrari name and logo. It got pulled within days!! Never to be seen again. Having said that I think the "sloitit inside" logo its very clever.

Just giving you a hard time. Been a fun day and in one of those moods.

So yes, I guess I am seeing the F1 program in a biased view. This isn't some team from Fly. These are the people that have produced some of the best running out of the box slot cars we have in our hobby. Just me being optimistic.

Your welcome Dge :) Glad you enjoyed it. Spent some more time tuning this 312PB a little this evening. Will share a few things here soon. Hopefully others who get this car report in and share their thoughts soon.

Andi Rowland has done very well with the design for the F1 chassis. The idea, although not a new one as Doc knows, was resurrected to allow for as much engine detail as possible while not sacrificing much by way of performance. Andi does rather like his fiddly little details, like all architects do.

I was lucky enough to watch the original prototype take shape in internet-land, thinking at the time that Andi was spending a small fortune on rapid prototyping for something that was going to maybe sell 100 kits in resin. Silly me. I should've realised there was something more than that afoot.

Also worthy of note that in typical fashion as soon as one slot car manufacturer announces 70s F1s to be released for the year others also clamber onto the wagon.

Hmm yes well mentioned Embs. I do hope that they are just about to pump the cars out into the stores very very soon, as we know what Scaly will do....Same as what they did to Jules and Pioneer.

Finally. It only took a couple days.

I did say "visible" but should have edited the rest.

You need to really burnish this well. They are not easy to remove. I could only get one to come off with tape. So be careful.

I just ordered the running mate. Realize this is not everyone's favorite type, but it is a solid model that is great fun.

On another forum, I was reading along and this jumped out at me:

"Policar have aquired the tooling to product the old Slot.it F40. As a German Company they are able to product this car and other Ferrari models.
This stems from the Cartronic case that Car Manufacturers cannot protect the image of a car, an accurate model of such can be made without license. I am over simplifying the Court ruling but German/EU law allows Policar to produce Ferrari models."

So, now you know the rest of the story about why Slot.It now owns Policar.

All I know is I'm ready for the F40s to come storming down the line.
