Retirement Looms, Selling/Moving plans start to firm

Well as of today, 3 full-time days left; next week I switch to part-time (have to keep Social Security happy) until we sell the house. Kind of different feeling....when I retired from the Air Force in 92 I knew I'd be starting over, this time when I'm done, that's it.

We've also widened our scope looking for a place to live beyond the immediate Fayetteville, NC area: looking down toward Jacksonville (Camp Lejeune) and up towards Goldsboro (Seymour Johnson AFB) and all the areas between. It's been 30 years since I've rented a house and things have changed a little......5-7 days of background checks before you can sign the papers! Big thing is, there must be a garage since I'm losing my part of the barn and the basement!

"Lightening ship" is going on in ernest; trips to Goodwill, taking family items down to Columbus, Ohio, putting stuff on Craigslist and getting ready to rent a dumpster for those items we both thought "we might use again". Haven't decided on a yard sale yet but the thought is there.

Finally, from the looks of things, I may be going part-time at work but will be full-time at home thanks to the "Household Manager" (She Who Must Be Obeyed) :bow-blue:

Sounds like something similar to me July last year....now I am finding time is the constraint for everything I want to do.

Good idea on the dumpster, be ruthless.

That dumpster will be a real savior. When I moved my machine shop 2.5 yrs. ago we adopted the 6sec. rule: if it took longer than 6 sec. to decide whether to keep it or not, chuck it. I dumped 30,000 lbs of iron and have yet to have had a need for any of it.
