ASA racer width & clearance questions?

Postby TuscoTodd » Sun Sep 07, 2014 11:13 am

To everyone that has / is building an ASA car with the M/T-5 motor and C/B wheels with PG 22168FF tires...
What has everyone been using for a max width? (2.75", 3", something in between?)
Also, same question for ground clearance? (1/8", .050", something in between?)

I am still in the fab stages - but getting closer to having something worthy of sharing pics on.... :)

Appreciate the any insight you guys can share.
Thanks!

Mine is about 2.75. I just have the tires flush with the body, not sticking out past it.

If it drags the ground its too low :) I'd shoot for 3/32nd all around as a start. I would just use the track your racing on as a good test. If it clears...it's good :) But to make the tires clear the body I am sure the bottom clearance will be set pretty much for you.

No big deal, just for fun. Hopefully the guys you race with think it's cool and then they build some too.

Thanks for the quick feedback Harry!
Since I am not using an ASA Camaro body - but rather modding a '71 Mustang body - I wanted to set it up so it would be "similar" width / clearance wise as what others have been using.
Thanks again!
