Tried something new to me this afternoon. I have just recently installed another tracmate system on my road course, and this time I wanted to add a little strategy to the game plan. I tested some software that allows fuel usage and pit stop functions.
Let me just say that it was a blast! I know the digital guys have been doing this for a while, but to have 1966 strombecker track that has this function is a little rare I would think?. We set up the first test race to be kind of an endurance race with 100 laps, and set the fuel usage function per directions. I can tell you this makes the race as real as it gets as far as strategy goes!
It is all about driving, fastest car does not always win, thinking you can make that checkered on the fuel you have left, might not be such a good idea! You can pull in and get as much or as little fuel as you think you need. this may be old news to most of you, but I am still new to the current technology. All I can say is if you have not tried this feature from one of the software race programs out there, you are really missing a thrilling sense of realism. there is also a another team race feature that we will be trying next, you can have several drivers that switch out during a fuel stop, and makes your two lane into a great track for many drivers.
