TGIF - Busy & Fun

Postby HomeRacingWorld » Fri Oct 03, 2014 6:35 am

It's starting to get busy down here in the old Skunkworks. Reviews are arriving here and there and as I try using more video, it keeps me busy. So far though people like the added video so I will keep doing them. I'll improve as I go.

More projects piling up on the workbench...we all know how that goes. :)

Latest news will be coming fast as well. Remember that this is YOUR forum too, so if you see new product announcements that I have missed, by all means post them. Links to sites like Slot Car Today, Slotforum, etc are fine. If it's helping the enthusiast then post away, that's the point of a good forum after all.

We started our own photo contest thanks to the help of member Gameover. He asked if he could do it, we said heck yeah :) So try to join in the fun. Snap a photo and enter. It's all for fun :)

Bad storms rolled through here and we are ok, but others took a beating. Hope all is well with those in the path.

Have a great weekend. Now get some of those projects done :)

We've had all sorts of rain here in southeastern most state in the union. Thankfully I'm on high ground at 74 feet above sea level! :D From my home, all directions are lower than my property. There is about a 100 to 150 acre lake about a block and a half away that is about 35 to 40 feet below my property. It has to rain a lot - like in 39 days and 39 night before I start getting excited.

Today is watching and tweaking day. I get to watch "Fast Friday" on Fox Sports 1 to see how the Nationwide and Sprint Cup guys are doing at Kansas.

Also, this Sunday is the Mid Florida Slot Car Group's Race Day at Buzzard Bay. So, one by one, I'm going through my stable and doing maintenance, some tweaking and some testing of all the cars for Sunday. Rather do it now then to hold someone up while I fix it on Sunday.

My workbench needs shovel to clean it off, then a fire hose to really get it sparkling once again.

I've got so much WIP (Work In Progress) going on (not telling what though) that I don't dare. Who knows? The Shadow knows!

Hey Guys!

Glad to hear you all weathered the storms well.

Just a lot of blustery wind and 70 F here today.

Rain and cold for the weekend.

I go for my 2 week post op appointment today shortly.

Things are coming along for me.

I got to see my oldest daughter ice skate last night at practice.

It was nice to get life a little back to normal again.

The girls want to race Ho cars when the get home with me tonight.

I haven't ran any cars since prior to my surgery.

I look forward to it!

All of you have great weekends whatever you do!

Wayne :D

Last weekend through Tuesday night I was on a backpacking trip on the Lost Coast of northern California. This weekend I hope to get the plug in 12v. Dewalt battery receptacle installed on my Little D oval.I ordered two new 3ah. 12v. batteries for it last night. When done I can just plug in rechargable Dewalt tool batteries into this portable track and go racing. I also have three of the asphalt Whelen mod bodies coming from Vintage 1/24 so I need to start getting some Womp chassis cut down and nerf and bumper bars added. I already have one chassis set up. I need two more.

A little rain here in L.A. would be nice. 99 degrees yesterday and 100 for the next couple days...
grrrrr
Well, I guess it'll be easier to solder that brass.

I'm still working on that darned Challenger. I'm not sure about the decals or numbers yet, but I'll get it done eventually. :)

And here I am stuck in Halifax Nova Scotia for another weekend.

Absolutely no slot racing going on around here that I can find, which is weird. Given the weather these guys get you would have thought there would be a track in every basement.

Oh, well, more time to build frames in my hotel room!

Have a good weekend!

I'm pretty sure I can't get tools like that thru security in my carry-on...nice "portable" workshop there Dennis!

Plan on getting the timing system setup so I can start the qualifying for the Mavericks. Or, I could just "forget" where they live and keep them... ;)

Dinner with friends on Saturday, more orders to process, my Broncos to watch, and a Corvair to work on.

David,

Another approach for the timing system is an App for your smart phone - Slot Car Trainer. It's about $2.00 and works quite well. Just download and the work is all done. It works quite well once you learn how to use it.

You can get all the Mavericks qualified, just like that.

Remember, all those that sent cars to you have your address! :angry-tappingfoot:

I can vouch for Slot Car Trainer. Might take some fiddling to dial it in, but once you do it works great.

Glorious spring day here. Apologies to all those who have otherwise.

Spent yesterday sitting in the sun assembling some swish laser cut acrylic paint storage racks. They look so good I decided to treat myself to a few more. Tired of having to ferret through boxes and tubs to find the paint I want. Now if only something similar could be done for tubes.

(not my hand)

HL is off fishing again today which leaves me free. Got a brass chassis to finish for my Giulietta and a Celica ST185 to put together for a proxy. Hope to at least get that to primer today. Will work on livery design for it tonight. I'll have to send them off for printing because I think I'm going to want gold (shame I can't get mirror gold, that would look awesome with my plan). If the wind holds off today and tomorrow I'll get some more painting done.
