Would I be correct in guessing we're looking at an NSR and a Carrera?

Forgot you weren't a big Carrera fan Rog. Regardless of which is the more accurate I think I like the shape of the left one better and graphics of the right.

Out of interest does the drop actually work? Or have you bound it up tight. Ive yet to make a drop arm work. Did they ever work?

I disabled the drop arm on mine. I guess RM didn't notice that I chimed in just before Marty with the correct answer. I think the Scaley car is the better looking of the two but there is no comparison in the performance category. Then again the Scaley Vette only costs half what the NSR does and against other Scaley modern GT cars it holds it's own well.

Thanks Bob. I tried running a drop arm on a 1/24 metal chassis. Tried all sorts of things. Up down movement, lots or little. Sideways movement, lots or little. Could not get the car to be anywhere near competitive. In the end I just locked it up tight. Went from 6.7s laps on the ragged edge to 6.4s laps and doing it easily. Anyone else have good/bad reports with using a drop arm. Would love to know on what tracks such a set up works on??

Yes but is it any faster than just locking the arm up? Have you done back to back tests? Whats the best time you've gotten with the arm "loose" with or without weight, springs etc. Compared to just locking it up tight. Would love to know the difference.

I have a black NSR Audi that broke it's arm near the guide. I bought a new harder one and it hasn't broken yet. I had it totally tight for a while and never could get the car to go as well as the NSR Porsche 917 that has a fixed guide point. Recently I loosened the guide just a turn or so of the screw, and the car came alive. I think it was enough movement to eliminate tightness, but not so it is flopping.
