Nice tracks guys!
As to the topic, not sure.
I know I've been off the radar for awhile now. No building or racing. Collecting some nice dust, though. I'll eventaully get back... Preoccupied with other projects right now.

This afternoon, working on my multiscale oval track (1/32 4lanes artin), I tried again a SCX compact cot, with no modifications except magnet removed, and unique braid instead of the usual SCX double braid. I just lowered the voltage, and the car was great to run. Smooth, quiet, and predictable, especially with 60ohm controller (but still OK with parma 45ohm).

I'm pretty sure that with a bit of work (just a bit of weight, trueing the tires, modifying the slide guide post), I will have really good racers, even compared to my 1/32 cars. Not speaking of possible urethane tires too ! They will be perfect loan vehicles for my racing sessions with casual/beginners, and with lower voltage, on the big 1/32 scale oval track, the 1/43 COT stockers seems to be perfect scale !

My point is no matter the scale, as long as cars are available, a scale is never finished.

But if it gets down to the point like where we are with Old Jouef cars, Sure they are available, BUT good examples of the best cars are hard to find AND expensive. Then that would be discouraging to all but the most determined!

You are right the SCX cars are surprisingly great!! Especially when you consider how minimalist they are; too bad Kyosho was not able to learn something from them! :(

has it dried up??? you would have to ask the sponsors who are on the top of this page. how did 1/43 carerra do this past year?? i have noticed that most of the kyosho cars are sold out which is a good sign but knowing kyosho history they usually leave dedicated buyers of their products out in the cold. scx is back and if you want a carerra substitute you better buy those new cars. my favorite 1/43 body supplier is recovering from too much demand for his great products which leaves me out in the cold. it is a good thing that when something is available i jump on it and stock up knowing that something does not last forever. for the majority this scale is a holiday toy. for the very few it is a lifestyle. has been that way for the last 50 years. my tip for you serious guys for the new year. radio shack has their tiny motors half off if you buy 10. time to stock up.

quite a puzzle here. if you like these motors and you are unable to get them, then how did you get them in the first place.?

I bought some from Steve at Ranch Design, and was lucky enough that another modeller, from Canada, sent me four more that he didnt need. I use these in proxy cars, but use HO motors for everything else.

http://top-gear-car.blogspot.com/2009/1 ... small.html hey lloyd that was quick. i think that there are members on this forum that will help you guys from across the pond in acquiring this great motor ..... if you have problems getting them..it seems that is the least we can do since you european guys are the only one's that actually provide real constructive content on this forum. radio shack has 4000 stores......soon to be 2000. i don't think their customer service is going to be all that great.

and lloyd you have proven my point in about 20 minutes. think about how many motors you need and get back to me. this is a promo from radio shack. it will not last for long. these motors are pretty light. i am thinking a padded envelope will be sufficient. as a rule i go to the post office a couple of times a week so it won't be a problem. that solarbotic motor looks impressive though. i am surprised that one got by me.

I think that the solarbotic may be the same motor, but I am very happy with the RS 7.5, it works for me!

Thanks for the kind offer.

If you are able to get any, looks like a limit of 12 to get the discount, but even at $3.95 they are cheap to me.
I would take as many as you can spare at $3.95 (if that price is still correct). 10 would be great. If you could PM your PayPal details I will pay whatever it comes to.

ok lloyd--- i have bad news and good news. after your desperate plea for motors request i decided to walk the 2 miles north to my local radio shack . bad news--- the store is closing. good news. the motors were 75% off. i bought all the motors available which 4 were 7.5. i use the 9 for die cast conversions and the 6 for everything else so there is no problem here. your cost 80 cents per motor. bad news. i am charging you a 20 cent handling fee per motor. brings the total to a buck.. it is easier to figure all this out this way. so i figure i am on a roll here.. i waLk another 1.5 miles north to the next shack. bad news. the store is not closing. the motors were only 50% off. good news. i got you 4 more. last night after my nap i decide to walk 3 miles south to the next closest store. warm night and i am in a t shirt and tennis shorts. bad news the store is not closing. good news . they had 3 more. so the grand total is $13.50 for 10 motors + shipping.. i will send you an extra one free for that great picture. that is 11 motors.
now do you want to cash in all your chips or be greedy and want more???? i walk 8-12 miles a day so the exercise is not going to hurt me. there are 41 shacks within a 12 mile radius from where i live. and you wonder why they are going broke???? anyway i usually take my annual walk through the city this time of year. i like to see all the changes. i can pass a lot of shacks. but i will charge you for bus fare. it will be about 2 bucks. looks like saturday if it does not rain.

Lol! You are a crazy man! PM me when you have the total, include the email address to send the PayPal to and I will do it straight away!
I can share them with the others this side of the water.

Thanks for everything!

1:43 is alive and well here in NE Florida. We have a digital Carrera Go in the infield of the 40ft Scalextric oval. Both are put to the test .. everyday.
