inner curve borders on HO scale tracks

Postby qball41 » Fri Sep 04, 2015 5:49 pm

I'm curious to learn what others have used for inner borders on turns on their HO scale layouts.

I would love to find something about a 1/4" that would be flexible so I could form it to the corner.

Any ideas you have seen used would be appreciated.

Best to just cut the material to fit inside the corner, instead of trying to bend something around to fit. 1/4" masonite or corkboard painted black works well. I believe Brad Bowman is making aprons for HO sectional tracks, you'd have to check his website for actual details and availability. -- Ernie :>)

Ho scale cork track bed (for trains) works great. It's flexible and pretty cheap too.

Cork roadbed is what I went with. It worked well. I'll post some pictures soon.

I used Tomy track with O scale cork railroad roadbed because it was the right thickness for the track. On the inside of 6" radius curves the O scale was too wide and tough to bend right, so I stacked HO roadbed to get the right height. You can use card stock or poster board to shim the roadbed to the perfect level too.
