Hi Targa Proxy entrants:

I just met the mailman as he delivered a large box for another proxy we are hosting. Even though the shipping label said toy racing cars to be returned, that info never made it to the customs declaration form and I was charged for it.

Things are getting more automated and many postal services allow you to enter the info online for easy shipping. This is now the third time such a thing has happened to me, and it is useless to try to recover the money after the fact.

I don't want to have to bill people if this happens, but I would soon go through the entry fees if it happens too often, so please make sure of the following:

Physically write on the customs declaration form, "Toy car for competition, will be returned to sender after the race". The computer online entry will likely get it wrong and charge me duty, tax and handling fees.

Thanks in advance for your assistance in this matter.

Keith, Was that the ROAR cars? they shouldn't be there yet, but that's what I put on the box I sent.
If there is any charges on that box, I will cover them. It cost $68 U.S to send the ROAR Cars.

I just went to the mailbox, and in it were two little transporters with cars #3 and 4 in the A class.

Leo and Dale, your cars arrived safe and sound.

Your message "Toy cars for competition, will be returned to sender after the races" hand written on the customs declaration did the trick and they arrived without extra duty and taxes.

Glad to hear that #3 made it there in one piece. Funny thing here they would not let me write on the box but I stood there in front of the postal worker to insure that the note got typed in. Hope you have fun

Thanks for your insistence, Dale. If you had not made sure, it would have just said, "Toy Car" and the value at $xx. Canada Customs would, of course, assume I was purchasing it and would want their cut.

Bill Beggs car arrived today also. Three are here. I am going to start marking the above list with rec'd, so people will know their cars made it.

Thanks Rleog...pretty much a stock GBTrack Porsche 917, but with the H&R Jackrabbit motor for the low rpm class. I do have a home made slide guide in it. For those of you who haven't heard of such a thing, it allows the guide to move side to side as you hit the corners...it dampens the impact, and improves the handling a bit.
