It was a great day of racing on "The ICEHOLE"!

After the time off the teams definitely seemed more than ready to mix it up!
Assisting in driving duties were local racers:
Steve Reed
Russell May
Amanda Workman
Steve Spring
Marshaling duties were handled by myself and the Slot Therapist (Terry Peterson)
The track was smooth and fast with plenty of door banging and tire rubbing with the old chrome horn being put to use liberally!
The first four cars to hit the track were:
DownUndaThunda's puple GTO on Red
Racing Bandit's silver Torino on White
CAT Racing's green Challenger on Yellow
D&D Racing's orange Camaro on Blue

There was definitely some wild door to door action with the cars constantly finding themselves packed up and charging hard!
On lap two, the D&D Team's missle of a Camaro over drove the corner and tangled with both CAT Racing's Challenger and Racing Bandit's Torino in one fell swoop!
At the end of the heat, even though the laps totals were different between the teams - they still were drawn to the pack!

Next to join the action was Slothead Racing's Firebird!

The action didn't slow down for heat two! Mid-heat CAT Racing's Challenger used 8 wheels to get through the corner not once - but twice! Both times sending Racing Bandit's Torino off track!
Next to rotate into the hunt for the podium was The Oregon Donor's Studebaker Hawk!

The west coast team had the Hawk flying down the straight and in the wide radius red lane - they were charging up the ranks right out of the gate! Racing Bandit's Torino kept trying to mix it up with DownUndaThunda's GTO - but the tight inside corners of yellow lane were definitely giving the team fits with getting the big Torino hauled down from the straight line blasts resulting one wild hit, where they were running neck and neck with both the GTO and Slothead Racing's Firebird where the only one to come out of corner cleanly was the one that was the meat in the sandwich going in - the GTO!
Next to join the action was DMS Racing's Mustang!

More heavy duty action this round! There were a number of offs, with the Firebird and Mustang contending for who had the quicker pony car while the Oregon Donor's Hawk would leave both of them in the dust down the straight! But those corners, those pesky corners! It was a rough round with only DownUndaThunda's GTO running on the inside lane getting away relatively unscathed!
The final car to enter the mix was T-County Lug Nut's Chevelle!

This round was one of the cleanest rounds of the race with every team digging hard for every segment! Slothead Racing's Firebird mag was "helped" around the corner by the Oregon Donor's Hawk when their driver got tired of the bird sticking its rear out in front of them - but even with the "assist" - there wasn't a single off track excursion this round!
:banana-dance:
At this point in the race, all the teams had gotten a start and D&D Racing's Camaro was rejoining the action - starting side by side with MS Racing's Mustang!

The Chevy verses Ford pony car war was on - with the Chevelle and the Studebaker trying to keep out in front of what the figured was sure to be a dog fight! The thought was good - but the tight inside yellow lane corners were proving to be a nemesis for the Hawk's ability to get slowed up from it's rocket speed down the straights - resulting in not one but two incidences of leaving the lane, cutting across track and taking out the D&D Racing Camaro! :o
Next to rejoin the action was CAT Racing's Challenger!

The adrenaline was up as the heats remaining were winding down! DMS Racing's Mustang found a quick way around yellow, by diamonding the corners, hanging the tail WAY out mid corner - which worked well until it got tapped by the chrome horn of the T-County Lug Nut's Chevelle! With loosing some notable ground the pony seemed to be on a tear for the next couple laps until they tried to use the Chevelle's tires to help them through the corner, but instead ended up spinning out across the track taking out themselves and the D&D Racing Camaro in the process!
For the final heat, with some "cool down time" in their favor, the Racing Bandit's Torino jumped back in!

The final heat did NOT disappoint! All four teams on the track were mixing it up hard while the teams that had finished standing on their pit boxes to see just where everything was going to shake out!
After seeming to be a magnet for mayhem - the D&D Racing team was charging hard and running clean when the CAT Racing Challenger managed to catch them in turn one, knocking wheels and sending both cars off track, nearly clipping the Racing Bandit Torino in the process!
It made for quite a race!
Added shots from the action!

When the checkered flag dropped there were a number of positions that came down to segments! Talk about some close racing!
