Well he was just on the 17th so he's not a stranger. I say give him a day or 2 and if he doesn't show up work around your schedule.

About halfway through the morning practice session a call from the pits came in from Helen. Upon further inspection, the BOSA Tires truck had arrived and dropped off new sets of tires for each of the crews and complimentary tires for each of the owners. Crews called in their cars and after installing the new tires lap times were decreased by over a second! Smiles were pretty wide at that point. Shortly after Qualifying opened with teams getting a 10 lap run. Here are the results and the starting order:

#33 Alfa Romeo : Kidvoltage : 7.296
#65 Chaparral : CAT Racing : 7.348
#148 Alfa Romeo : Dave's Dollies from Saginaw Valley : 7.349
#12 McLaren : T-County Lug Nuts : 7.381
#32 Alfa Romeo : Slothead Racing : 7.388
#34 MB Slot Ferrari : Thundadownunda : 7.546
#3 Ferrari : Racing Bandit : 7.895

We will be using the handicap system. Here are the resulting factors that each teams laps will be multiplied by:

#33 Alfa Romeo : Kidvoltage : 1.000
#65 Chaparral : CAT Racing : 1.007
#148 Alfa Romeo : Dave's Dollies from Saginaw Valley : 1.007
#12 McLaren : T-County Lug Nuts : 1.011
#32 Alfa Romeo : Slothead Racing : 1.012
#34 MB Slot Ferrari : Thundadownunda : 1.034
#3 Ferrari : Racing Bandit : 1.082

Helen says the team owners should go to the BOSA Tires web site and select two sets of tires (1:32). Send me your selections and your mailing address and I'll send them out.

Track cleaning is scheduled for tonight. Racing is scheduled for tomorrow.

Good luck to all.

Dave's Dollies is pleased with the results as is the new sponsor we picked up this year. Our new driver Madison is showing great promise. Definitely not the party girl like Carli from last season much to the disappointment of the other teams that like to hoist a few. Good luck to the teams and may the best girls, er I mean drivers win.

While the tire offer is generous here at Saginaw Valley we run the BIG cars so we graciously decline. Nice gesture though and appreciated.

Cars in order as Helen prepares to drop the flag.

Cars take on "The Decider". Alfa in the early lead.

Under the GoodYear bridge and the McLaren is making a move on the inside.

Around the Tower turn and headed for trouble

And there they are - from The Nightmare Before Christmas it's Lock, Shock and Barrel waiting to do who knows what as the Chaparral tries to make a move around the outside. Or is that the inside?

At one point there was a report of transmission fluid dropped on the track in the curves behind the pits. Helen investigated...

Helen on the headset: "Hey, I'm down here now, it's red but it's not transmission fluid".
Tower: "What, any idea the cause"?
Helen: "uh, it looks like somebody's missing a foot".
Tower: "A foot of what"?
Helen: "A freaking foot"!
Tower: "Uh... are you sure"?
Helen: "I'll bring it with me, be right there".

Around the refreshment stand headed to the painted rock garden.

Image

Headed to the final corner getting ready to drop the hammer.

Image

Hammer time! The Ferrari would mount a ferocious charge down the front straight but would continually lose time over the twisty sections where the big motor proved a detriment.

Image

Across the line with the mighty McLaren ahead by about a foot. Helen has her suspicions.

Image

Gradually as the race wore on the McLaren was able to pull out to a small lead leaving the others behind. And if you're missing a foot, please go to Helen Waite. She's looking for you.

Congrats to the TC Lug Nuts and their hippy-dippy McLaren for the win. Rightly so since the McLaren cars ruled Can-Am before the Porsche-Audi beasts took over. Slothead Racing also gives cheers for the #33 Alfa Romeo team car that came in 2nd. Despite our lowly finish we're happy to see an Alfa on the podium.

Well the Dollies did their part and overall I was pleased. My mechanics for the Alpha apparently didn't know what they were doing. Q3 and finished last and a short season to boost. Gonna need a sit down before Saginaw Valley. Tell Helen to keep an eye out for any heads rolling on the track. :angry-tappingfoot: Congrats to the podium winners.

Tight racing finishing with podium gold AND a kick but offer from the tire sponsor!
The T-County boys couldn't be happier!!!
A tip of the hat to Helen and the whole Penguin Point crew for orchestrating a great race!
